    Brush Tees

These are great in the backyard with a net. Get the oversize ones, push one way down into the ground, use for irons, the next a little less, for fairway woods, the third just slightly for the driver. They don't break and the ball sits more naturally for the iron shots, like it's on a tuft of grass.

    Progress !

Ok, haven't played since Christmas. Haven't chipped or putted since then. Haven't hit a driver either. Been working hard at the range, though with irons. Every day for the past week, I've hit about 150 balls. What I've been working on is keeping my "tush line" and spine angle (particularly in...

    Good news/Bad news

The good news is a 271 yard 3 wood to two feet The bad news is I lost it as soon as I hit it, and didn't even know it was on the green until I drove up. Best shot of my life and I missed it !

    Funniest thing I've seen lately

Jim McLean describing Venturi's chip as "no hand action". Then the video shows Venturi using a huge amount of right wrist cock.

    Nicklaus Swing Speed

Jack is always saying that equipment is responsible for all the distance increase. It seems to me that the constant would be swing speed. Did they measure it back then ? And if so, how does Jack's compare to modern players.

    The real winner at Pinehurst....

was Johnny Miller. He got to call all the pros incompetent and stupid. Which is his favorite thing to do.

    Coverage

Imagine you are watching a Bronco's game. In the middle of the game, they show a retrospective on John Elway, so you miss part of the game. People would go nuts. Why is it okay to do this during a golf tournament ? Why don't they show as much golf as possible. Who wants to see this other crap...

    Network Golf Coverage

I think it hit a new low today. The coverage was taped, so they could have shown anything they wanted to, with mobile cameras. Instead they used fixed cameras on a few holes. Phil shot a course record 62 and they showed him for one hole, hitting two shots ! Instead we got to see things like...

    Dynamically correct grip

I've been working on my grip lately. Not v's, strong/weak, etc.. but just making sure that the club is secure throughout the swing. What a difference! Funny that this is not talked about much. It's in Five Lessons on p. 34 but other than that I don't think you see it much. Now I feel a solid...

Problems with hinging and wrist positions

After reviewing 10-10, this gets my vote for the worst explanation and pictures in TGM. Here is my attempt at understanding it. Hinging 10-10-A. Horizontal Hinging. The clubhead is on a vertical plane (e.g. putting). So Horizontal hinging is an arm (flying wedge) roll. The arm rotates in...

Hitting vs. Swinging, Brian vs. Phil

Brian, can you comment on the differences here ? Phil actually goes farther back, but I tried to match up your positions. (Sequence at GolfDigest.com) From one of your posts : SWINGER: Backswing goes to the END (Like Phil M.) sweetspot (clubface) and #3 pressure point rotes 90 degrees...
