    Hitting up and going left

Title says it all. Been hitting up on it and the ball is flying.... just sometimes gets overcooked and goes too far to the left. i know my club face is closed to the path... what the best way to keep the face more open... or is the ball too far forward?

Hand path plus mind in your hands

Could someone explain how 1) concentrating on keeping your hands under and in (I guess I mean vertical) on the downswing and 2) keeping your mind in your hands leads to better contact? Trying to worry about the clubhead has lead to terrible contact (mostly on toe, fat, with closed and open face)...

2 way misses . . . Most frustrating problem of all

Where do you go when you start having 2-way misses? I aim down the left center and hit a hook. Aim right center and block the crap out it. Some shots I release too much, others block right through the ball. Tee shots of late have been awful. Where does one start looking?

Reasons the left arm would get steeper on the downswing

Saw my swing on film for the first time in a while and noticed on the downswing my left arm gets steeper on the downswing instead of gradually falling down. Brian also noticed this in our lesson about a year ago. I am not sure if that would be considered OTT or not. What I cant wrap my head...

    Below Plane Syndrome Questions

2 questions. Going through some older post and analyzing my misses, I think I have a case of BSP. Would all of the below be symptoms? 1. Fat shots - from pitches to long irons 2. Misses both left and right - hooks and blocks 3. Bad case of the pushes, especially with the driver I read a long...

    OT: Golf internships

Hey guys. I was wondering if anyone knew of a good place for a golf admin internship in Louisville, KY or somewhere close for the summer. I will work for free and am just looking to learn and help out in any way possible. I am a grad student in Sports Admin program at the University of...

What does the high hands finish accomplish?

I guess its because Tiger and Phil get the most coverage, but sometimes I see both finish their swings with a high hands finish. The club is usually just past vertical and does not wrap around their bodies. What type of shot are they attempting with this finish? Here is an example of what I;m...

Can someone explain how swinging too far to the right causes toe shots?

I took Brian's advice and started to bury the right shoulder and have seen some good results. Today I was checking my lie angles and still was a on the toe, both the face a sole of the club. I even hit a 9 iron that was 5* upright and was still on the toe. The vector said I was averaged 8*...

The Brian Manzella Show pilot paid off. . .

Lately I had been driving the ball great for me, 290-295 average with about 6 or 7 fairways, yet couldn't capitalize on these drives. Every iron I hit except from 100 and in was off the toe. When I mean off the toe, I mean not even on the scoring lines. As you know, that meant shots to the...

    Ben Doyle and Steve Elkington

I found these earlier today. Although is doesn't show Ben, he name is mentioned in the description. Brian, do recall ELK working with Ben? Any interesting stories? If you listen to Jim Rome, you know Elk is a character! YouTube - Steve Elkington Using a Golf Machine Pitching Action YouTube -...

Mickelson 7 iron from 198 uphill

I know his lofts are basically a club strong, but unless Kostis was told the wrong club, what gives? I know it could have been down wind and he may have delofted like crazy. Do the pros use juiced balls?

Tiger Woods' driver swing . . left foot action

Did anyone else see how his left foot leaves the ground on the downswing? Why does this happen? Not enough of him posting on that left leg? I have seen a few videos from last year and I do not think it was due to the injuries.

    Irons off the toe

So my new set of the callaway x prototype irons came in yesterday and what do I do all day on the course, shots off the toe. I wasn't too far away from the ball and I wasn't reaching out to the ball; what am I doing wrong? OTT? Flipping? Funny thing is all my wedges, pitches and chips were all...

    Soft Draw Pattern question . . .

Brian, If I digested Soft Draw Pattern correctly, most of the positions of the Phil Mickelson practice round would fall under SDP, especially the first and last picture, correct?

    Clubhead path

Is it safe to assume that if the ball starts at the target then begins slicing right is a clubface issue and not the path?

    Loss of distance w/ driver

Hello everybody. I have been working on the confessions of a former flipper and NSA 2.0 and progress is going well. Hit 9 fairways and missed a couple by a few yards, which for me is a record, however, a funny thing has happened with my driver. While I can still hit my irons my usual distance (...

For Brian Manzella Academy only: Confessions of a former flipper

Hello guys. I watched Confessions of a former flipper, absorbed the information and took it to the range today. On most of the full iron shots I tried, the impact seemed to really make a difference. I did however have three issues that I usually do not see in my swing. 1. When using the pivot...

    Driving inconsistency

Can anyone send some decent information on how to be a consistent driver. All day today; left, right, 315 bomb, then 250 weak slice or low hook. I know this request is very broad, I am just asking for the basics; grip, stance etc. Either way, before he leaves Louisville, I going to see Brian...
