Swinging under the stick while hitting down

I rewatched Never Slice Again for the first time in 2 years, and this is a wonderful video. Lots of great information on the proper backswing pivot, dragging the sweetspot, that drill on getting the right arm to swing across the chest on the downswing, and why the clubface opens on the...

    Three Ball Drill

For the first time, I finally tried this drill this evening for a short time, before the rain. Yikes. If I hit a clean shot, no divot, at least none detectable. Otherwise, I hit it fat or the divot was directly underneath the ball as I chunked it. Without the ball, if my clubhead hits the...

    Extensor action

Especially on the downswing. I can achieve it on the backswing, but I lose it at startdown. When I am able to accidentally apply it on the downswing, I can hit clean, crisp shots. Can't repeat it though.

Left wrist outside left shoulder at impact

I probably need to adjust my impact fix position. My left wrist is well outside my left shoulder at impact fix. I understand that in that case, the left wrist , not the left shoulder, becomes low point and the swing center. What are the dangers of having the hands too far forward at impact? A...

    Fix the clubface first

Brian has stated that one should fix the clubface first in the pre-shot routine. What does that mean? I assume it doesn't mean rotate the club within the grip..maintain whatever grip, neutral, or otherwise, you are using. Thx

    Toms at the Doral

One of the commentators stated that Toms was hooking and missing fairways because he was flipping with his hands. Any truth to this? Doesn't explain why his irons were so solid yesterday to get him within one stroke of the lead. Maybe he just had an off day driving the ball. Another case of...

Drawing the ball with the David Toms swing?

I love the never hook again swing. Easy to manage, and doesn't clog up your conscious with an excess of disruptive swing thoughts. I inevitably revisit a more conventional swing with poor results, before going back to this gem. This morning I was able to hit fades and fade-like shots, aiming 5...

    I forgot everything

Quel horreur! After only perhaps 3-4 weeks of not hitting any golf balls, my ballstriking has gone straight to hell. Man, I can't even chip. I have forgotten everything. So I recall I am supposed to aim my hands somewhere ahead of the ball on a straight line, and become unaware of the...

    Left hand heel

I've always had trouble preventing the heel of the left hand from slipping off the grip on the downswing. I feel firm pressure from the heel at address, but the pressure disappears during the left wrist cock, and I don't reaquire the pressure on the downswing. This occurs with any type of grip...

    Time for a new driver?

I have this 10 yr old GBB Warbird from Callaway, whose broken shaft I am replacing for 51 bucks. Has that much legitimately changed in driver technology in 10 years? Marketing hype? I saw one authorized retailer who has GBB IIs on sale. ANd the price of other game improvement type drivers aren't...

    Club Fitting

I called up a local golf retailer to ask about prices for lie adjustments. I was told that cavity back clubs can't be adjusted for lie angle because they would crack. Thus he won't even try to adjust the lie angle on cavity backs. Only forged blades can be adjusted. Is he correct? I have...

    Arched left wrist at impact[w/ManzellaAudioAnswer]

I don't LOOK LOOK LOOK. I weakly and furtively glance , glance, glance. I have known for many months, perhaps even a year or more, that my left wrist is arched at impact. Never previously bothered me because I used it as anti-throwaway, anti-left wrist cup insurance. However, my impact fix...

Such a thing as toe shanks?

My new swing works wonderfully for irons.Up the wall, down the wall, swing left. Much more consistent. However, for the past few days, nothing but shanks for the driver. Ball bounces off the wooden divider separating the mats. If the ball misses the divider, it will skid on the ground to the...

    Fiddle Drill Feel

The fiddle drill mocks me. Is the feel one has during the fiddle drill exactly the feel one should feel while swinging? The release feel of the fiddle drill feels much 'looser' than I am normally used to. Can't remember the exact term HK uses. Both ends quickly turning over? I think Brian...
