1 vs X

X spins less....less dimples.....I think that's about it.

I think with the X they recommend about 110 mph SS w/ driver.....something like that.

Ok....if it spins less what does that give me? More accuracy? I played with it yesterday and had one of my best rounds ever. I also played with a different swing so it's hard to tell. If I have a slower swing speed than the 110 or so does that hurt me? Less distance? Thanks again.

PS Basically I'm trying to figure out if this ball helped my game.

Ya she'll fall outta the sky a bit if you don't have enough spin.

Too much spin, on the other hand, makes a ball balloon.

Too much ball, man I should have played with the normal Prov1. Maybe would have played even better due to more distance.

Heheh do some experimenting and see what works best....pay attention to distance and trajectory.

There'll be more info on the Titleist website too prolly...if u haven't checked already.

You guys could save a fortune on golf balls if you look at THIS.

And, what they say about the Nike v the Pro V is true for 99.9% of golfers out there
Given a blind testing not many guys would be unhappy with their results IMHO. They would also save MEGABUCKS!

I've been using the Nike PD Super Soft since that Consumer Reports article came out. Absolutely can't be beat for price/value performance. It feels and sounds softer than Pro V or Nike Blacks and Platinums, so it takes a little getting used to. But distance is excellent with this ball, particularly for someone like me with an average swing speed.

I find no real problems going back and forth between the Nike and Pro V.
I still use a lot of Pro V's since I find a lot of them on my course (left by lazy folks who don't like to look in the deep grass).

Consistent with my swing speed, I definitely prefer the Pro V1 over the X.

Yup, the balls I buy are the Nike Supersoft, because I am cheap not because I can't afford the Pro V1 :). Also I cannot detect any performance losses in comparison to the Pro V1.

I too use "found Pro V1s" and, when abroad, buy used Pro V1s from roadside peddlars because they are so cheap.

What I will not do is to pay megabucks for a ball that does not perform, for me, so much better that I feel I am getting value from it.

I play the ball - not the brand!

QUOTE]

If you play at a course that a college team practices at, many of the players will just drop another ball on the fairway and not bother looking for golf balls they hit into the trees.

A couple of times I have had Baylor University players in the group ahead and ended up finding 6 to 7 Pro V1 or Pro V1x balls they hit into the trees.

I used to play the 'regular' Pro V1 exclusively. Then I played in a tournament in 2003 and was backing wedges off the green during a practice round. From then on, I almost always play the X. I'll still use the regular V1 if I find them but I definitely prefer the feel and ball flight (I'm a high-ball hitter) of the X. I like a little firmer feel around the greens too...I absolutely hate feeling like I'm putting with a marshmallow.
