#10 - Clubface Aim at Address and Impact

Hi Brian, in your previous articles you mention "not to hit it at the target" and to aim the clubface slightly open to allow for horizontal hinging and subsequent closing clubface.

Would be interesting to see how you go about establishing how much the clubface needs to be opened up to get the clubface square at seperation.

Thanks!

The club face is actually slightly CLOSED at address. Get just slightly past impact fix and simulate the club face square at separation ( You could call this separation fix) not contact then move to mid-body hands address if you are a swinger or your hitter's address . Look down at the club and that is how it should look for YOU. someone who gets their hands well ahead at impact will have a more closed look in the clubface at address more so with swinger's mid-body hands than a hitter's hands ahead of the ball address.

Very good technical answer John.

However, to really simplify; if the clubface is just placed behind the ball and aligned with a point one dimple inside of, rather than at, the dead centre rear of it, one can even more readily see how open the clubface should be.

Thanks, just to clear something up does the seperation point occur under the left arm pit? and if so is it best to take your left hand grip and aim the clubface in line with the left arm pit then move to whatever address position you swing from?

I swing from impact fix btw

Thanks
