Guess who is dead last in "driving" distance this week? Behind Funk, way behind Goydos. Doesn't matter what club he's hitting off the tee, he's hitting pop-ups for crying out loud.

How has it gotten this bad? Can it get any worse?

"The names and numbers on the ShotLink computers are startling.

On the list of driving distance statistics through 54 holes in The Players Championship, Fred Funk is 69th among 70 players. No surprise there for the player who pokes fun at himself for his distance off the tee.

No. 70, 2.5 yards behind Funk's tournament average of 261 yards, and dead last among players who made the cut in the tournament is Tiger Woods -- who used to amaze fans and other players with his length off the tee for most of his career.

One reason is that Woods hasn't been hitting his 3-woods any better than his driver.

A particular problem with Woods and his 3-wood is that he's catching the ball on the toe of the clubface and popping them up. That's what happened on the par-4 18th hole when Woods ballooned his tee shot only 221 yardss into the fairway, leaving himself 234 yards to the hole.

Woods had to hit a hybrid, which wound up short and right of the green, leading to a bogey.

Did anyone think they'd see Tiger Woods hit a hybrid, from the fairway, into a par 4?

"It's certainly not very good," he admitted. "I'm trying to hit the low ball out there and I'm actually so steep on it that I'm popping it up." "

I haven't watched any of the coverage, but mgranato's numbers are pretty interesting. Something's gotta give.

Wow.

Wow.

Wow.

But, people will keep saying that he's too distracted.

Sure, I don't quite expect him to win tournaments, but 'being distracted' has nothing to do with this crap.

Neck injury and "bulging disk"? Withdraws from the Tournament? I don't buy it. This guy is a joke..Haney is bailed out by this stuff for the time being with the national media. How many guys on the Tour play with bulging disks and nicks and soreness?..I'd bet alot do.

I would not think any golfer could play with a bad neck and bulging disc!!!! That is assuming he had one.

He said he has had it for awhile and played with it before the Masters. I would assume that a golfer could not play with a broken leg, but he did that at the U.S. open at Torrey.

I don't see it effecting his distance since he was swinging the clubhead at a good speed when I watched him. I'm sure it didn't help matters. I hate to question injuries though. I have a sinus infection and the other day I was thinking that if I somehow qualified for a PGA Tour event I'd probably withdraw because it was bothering me so much, so I wouldn't want people questioning me if that happened.

Here's the thing though, we've seen a major dip in Tiger's ballstriking pretty since he's gone to Haney. So you don't have to convince me that Haney's teaching hasn't worked for Tiger.

He's also said very recently that he's 100% physically and back to his running and workout routines. One thing we do know - the truth and Tiger are usually on the opposite sides of the fairway. My guess is it's a combination of hurt neck and hurt feelings.

Today's driving numbers before WD in Victory Red.

Depends on how bad it is. They can be one of the most painful and debilitating injuries.

Maybe his wife did connect with the 5 iron on Thanksgiving:D.

I believe that golf, the media, his wife, the papparazzi, and the fans have all become a pain in the neck for Tiger. Controversial former New Orleans Mayor, Ray Nagin said it best: "I'm getting out of politics for health reasons; I'm getting sick of dealing with a lot of people."
