Can anyone help explain this section (12-1-0). What does the Des. stand for? What's random sweep? I think I understand that it's the correct system to be used in all the 24 components. Any enlightment is appreciated.

There are only 24 components to the Golfing Machine, but you have a choice of "parts" to use to build any one Component.

12-1 is a Basic Pattern -- a list calling out which parts Mr. Kelley recommends using for the most efficient Hitting procedure. An "uncompensted" stroke, as he called it.

For example, in building your Basic Grip (Chapter 10, Component 1) you have a choice of 5 different parts, each of which has an Alphabetical Designation -- abbreviated as "Des": Overlapping (A), Baseball (B), Reverse Overlap (C), Interlocking (D) or Crosshand (E). The sheet shows, "Des A", so you know the Overlapping Grip (10-1-A) is recommended.

And so on, for each of the 24 Components.

Component 22 deals with where the machine is programmed to load the Power Accumulators and there are only three designations: "Full Sweep" (10-22-A) is very early Loading; "Snap Release" (10-22-C) is very late Loading; and, "Random Sweep" (10-22-B) is somewhere in between the two extremes.
