1) I need some help with a move that two of my favorite golfers do but i don't know WHY they do it. The move i'm talking about is done by Ernie Els and David Toms. At transition (backswing to downswing) it "looks" like their left arm gets longer. Like they magically applie a bunch more extensor action. Is this just me having "slow eyes." Is what i'm REALLY seeing is the shaft loading? Help please.

2) I've finally decided to buy the book...where is the best place to buy one and which do you feel is the best edition?

Thanks

Actually, I have noticed that there a quite a few Swingers out there whose left arm bends more during the downstroke.

Examples:
Billy McKinney (forum member)
Retief Goosen
Sergio Garcia

Maybe someone can explain why!

I saw Billy only a few days ago and we hit some shots, youre right Leo his arm does. Bill let us know why pro? Get John Levitt off your computer and jump on the forum and tell us what you worked on with Ben and Gregg.

Mizuno, it looks like Clampett's left elbow in Homer's last article swing sequence.

Right - another of the very few like that at the End. The difference between Els and Clampett happens at release point, where Clampett has developed some bend, but Els hasn't.

Nicklaus in his prime started out with a hyper left elbow but had developed some bend at the End.

The rarest are those who have some bend all the way to the End and then hyperextend at the start of the downswing. Henry Cotton did this and Cochran and Stobbs consider this an additional power source. Maybe Accum #5[?]

Add Annika Sorentstam to that list too. Wonder if these players' heads move and it is a compensation?

Leo . . . you are talking about through the ball right? Goose, Sergio, and Annika definitely do not have the left arm straight through the ball.

i believe that you can add lee westwood and jerry pate to your list. someone once told me that they had a bent left arm at impact because the left hip stopped turning. any thoughts?

If you stop turning, leading with the elbow makes it easy for an ACTIVE left arm to pull through. This is a bad idea. :(

um...not sure if you are all understanding.

Once ernie and david stop at the end assembly point, and begin their downswing (transition) it seems like their left arm becomes straighter. However it is pretty much already straight as Ernie and David have phenonimal extensor action.

So what am i "seeing?"

I don't know, Jim, but I always thought Els turns his elbow to face downward as it gets long and straight. Seems like a lot of stress but he is a big boy.

Show on TGC a long time ago, two guys that said that the left shoulder expands outward in the swing they taught add to the extension of the left arm.

Ben sells the book as does Joe.

Els' left arm is hyperextended before and at the End and couldn't possibly get straighter on the DS. Again, you can't hyperextend the left elbow with extensor action - it is done with the left tricep.

Everyone is MISSING THE POINT.

I know you can't stretch the left arm farther than it's full length, but on video from down the line at transition, it LOOKS that way. So what am i looking at? The shaft loading?

I recommend getting the book from Ben Doyle site. Fast and books were pristine. Last one from TGM site was slow and looked like it had been run over a few times.

Wow. Listed with Garcia and Goosen. I'll take that as a compliment.
4Barrels, you have also seen me hit it. Does it seem like I would hit it any
farther if I kept it straight?
What about the law of COAM? Anyway, it's basically right arm swinging.
Maybe it's simply a swing flaw..I'm kind of a spaz.
Ben worked on it every lesson and then we'd look at it on video and he'd do the same
and he'd say something like, "I never could get that arm straight."
I'm in good company, anyway.
Oh, and what you are seeing is 10-23-C Top Arc and Straight Line. It always look like "de-lagging" or "width". And it's kind of a nice way to maintain Rhythm and Tempo.

And Levitt (who played in the 2000 US Open), has found a really beautiful young Russian girl on Match.com. What the hell am I doing here with you dorks?

Billy, youre proceedure is great although last week I stiffed it closer than you on the par 3 outside your condo. Great rhythm, no delagging Leadbetter stuff here just wide to narrow.

Levitt's girl wont last when she gets to know him better as unarmed in G.O.L.F. By the way we are all g.o.l.f. geeks as we should be having margaritas with some nice girls with fake hooters at Haviers in OC Laguna Beach than quoting versus out of the little yellow bible.

What are Bobby Schaeffer and Greg McHatton like? McKinney and 4bls sound like a couple of skirt chasing boozers with more money than brains.
