Is it worth going? I have a free flight and room. Is making tee times to play that weekend tough? I've got my eye on a few courses about 30 mins northeast of Orlando.

If you have a free flight and room, go. It's really a fun experience.

Be prepared for a lot of walking at the show. Miles and miles of isles. The show was better many years ago when companies introduced their new products, unlike today when they do that during the season. It is a golf junkies paradise but can be overwhelming at first. Bring good shoes and enjoy. As far as golf goes it can be a little more expensive that week but it beats the snow anyday.

It's dangerous to fly nowadays. Most hotels in Orlando are very dangerous. The walking will really wear you out. I know a few here were trying to be nice and say it's worth going but I really need to be truthful here and tell you - you'd save money and enjoy it more if I just sent you some video of the key events with all the non-essentials cut out. PM me and I'll give you my address to send the airline ticket and hotel room reservation. I'll need some cash for food and golf - so include that also.

OK - I wasn't clear. I can fly and stay anywhere with some points/vouchers that I have. Anyway, I'm going to Orlando. And I'm going to golf my ass off!

I live in SoFlo, I have gone to the show the last 10 years so let me be honest, golf will cost you a fortune unless you go to a resort package. the show is about 80% crap and 20% cool stuff but it is worth spending 1 day looking at the cool stuff. Orlando is very busy that week so make reservations at restaraunts and remember that the Super bowl and pro bowl are going to be played a few hours south so the Big O will be busier than usual. If you have never been it is cool and a must, if you have gone before and had to pay for accomodations I might chose a different destination for a vacation.

I live in the Central Florida area....

though rates are the highest this time of year, golf in Central FL is cheap. You are talking about playing NE of Orlando. Where? Apopka, Daytona Beach??? Either of those places have great rates on decent public or semi-private courses. There are so many to choose from.

Also, if you have a vehicle and drive 20-30 minutes, you can get some cheap rates on hotels. Check hotels.com or expedia.
