From this post I take it you are going, I also see you are not on the scheduled to appear, yet. I believe you will be there, when who knows but I am sure you will be there as a scheduled to appear teacher/instructor!

Golf Magazine and the TOP100 will have a role in some breakout sessions, and I am sure I'll get to do that again, just like 2 years ago.

I have been to every PGA Teaching and Coaching Summit. I can even call them out by year, starting with Dallas in 1988. I am quite sure there isn't more than 5 people who have been all of them. Put it this way, Rickie Fowler was born a couple of days after that summit.

Oh, the stories I could tell.

But, I will save them for another day.

The day I headline the thing.

Here is the big question..

Take an everyday golf pro who will travel to and attend the summit:
Travel - Hotel - $1,000
Tuition for Summit - $550

Will that golf pro enhance their teaching with the information presented to earn back the $1,550 or even profit from it? These summits and seminars need to consider that as the future of these things will be all web based.

You make the mistake of thinking that the purpose of these events is education. Clearly it is not, they exist to further enhance the reputations of the Golf Instruction Mafia.

I was at Dallas in 88, all the summits were indoors till 2000. One of my favorite moments was when Johnny Redman started shanking the ball on stage in New Orleans...

A PGA revenue source and many go just for points. Web based teaching is more effective educationally, but it represent a microcosm of the impact the net is having on the economy as a whole. I'm betting airlines, hotels, retailers abhor the net for that reason. Every time we buy something or learn something at home somebody lost their job. But I digress...
