2013 US Amateur: Get me ready Brian?

'13 US Am is at The Country Club and my club is the second course (Charles River). Be unbelievable to play in it. May have to make some trips down south. BM, think you get me to a place where I could try and qualify? I'll be 43. Current hdcp 7.

Good luck. I'm going to try to qualify next year at the age of 33 with a +1 handicap. Get's a bit intimidating when these college kids shoot -18 in the State Am in four rounds of golf and play and practice all day long.

IMO, the amateur has lost it's intent. It is essentially a mini tour event now and the mid am is a showcase to Ex pros who couldn't quite make it. What I would like to see is a mid am public links. That would be a tournament that would best showcase the good local player.

Don't let ANYONE tell you that you can't and that what you want is not worth the effort. Go balls to the wall and work your butt off. Self belief and hard work can take you a long way in any walk of life. I say go get em'.

You had better hit 300+ to have a chance -the young kids are to good these days.
A Korean Leadbetter IMG kid just won the 2009 at Southern Hills.

Brian can definitely help you with your swing, but the best swing in the world won't be the ticket in a tournament like that. If you're serious, you'll need LOTS of tournament experience with as good of fields as you can find - in addition to tightening up your swing. And that's just to qualify, lol.

I started a video journal at the beginning of the summer and plan on doing one every summer for the next 20 something years. It's fun to record progress and get some thoughts down on tape throughout the years.
