Have any of you had success with hitting down on your putts?
If putting is on plane... the stroke goes back, up, and in, then DOWN, out, and forward. If one is only thinking of moving the club FORWARD, on the downstroke, wouldn't that tend to cause breakdown?

I realize that there are various putting procedures. Some good putters are actually trying to hit UP on their putts. The amount of LOFT on one's putter, etc., is probably also a factor.

I have a 4 step process:

1) put the club down on the ground

2) very slight foward press of my hands

3) take the club up and back

4) swing the putter foward and down on the middle part of the ball

----Works for me, read brian's article on rolling the rock

I watch Bill MicKnney's tape on putting and has been using it for few weeks. It is quite good on short putt as I do not need to worry about the direction, however I still have difficult in judging the long distance putt, usually short. I guess still not know how to feel the distance with the power source, the shoulder. The procedure is:

1. Left hand very low on the club, grip against the left forearm
2. Right hand above left and push (slightly) onto the left forearm
3. Power from rocking the shoulder, right up then left up

With this rocking of shoulder, I found that if the shoulder movement is correct, the putt will be very straight.
