#4 pressure point (connection)

Does the #4 pressure point have to be connected, and how tight should it be.

The more upright plane golf swings seem to be less connected here, than the flatter, Hogan type swings.

What is a way to keep the hands and arms from getting too inside, or behind the player on the backswing, when connecting the left arm across the chest to get the #4.

By connected, I mean pressure under the left arm, or connection here with the chest or left pectoral and the left arm. Someone like Furyk, for example with a very vertical left arm, looks as if to have very little connection here, but someone like Hogan or Olazabal looks to have more.

If one were to contract muscles in order to create this connection, destroying the inertness of the left arm... what disruptions could be expected?
