Why does Tiger hit it so far off line with his driver? Yesterday they said he was off by 60-70 yards. That is hacker territory

Obviously he didn't play all that well, but I thought I remembered hearing that Tiger always liked Firestone because of the layout and the fact that you can pretty much hit it all over creation and almost never be OB.

Yes, it is. Said it many moons ago. So much of Foley's "wonderful" instructions. I'd be ashamed if my pupil plays such shots, not mentioning when my pupil is one of the best players in history of the game. Pathetic.

Cheers

How does Nike sell any drivers? I am a big Tiger fan but I would not want him endorsing my clubs if I was in the business of selling equipment.

Maybe this is why Nike has him endorsing their clubs?

Foley told me that Tiger was swinging 10° inside-out with the Haney swing trying to hit a draw.

10° at 300 yards is 52 yards off line.

Sean's doing his best, Tiger was left in a trick bag by Haney.

His good swings look much better. He is going to be surprised at how long it takes to fix this. Swinging too inside-out is a tough nut to crack. I had no idea how inside out I was swinging until Brian put me on the orange genie. Some pretty good players have fallen into that swing and never recovered. Tiger will be back, you can see it in his good swings. Speaking of Foley, he better work with Mahan on the fifty yard pitch. Anyone see that chunk in the water on 16? That was embarassing.

So Haney was teaching him to point it left at the top and hit it right at the bottom? was the lay off that far under? Is that how you see it?

It is very difficult to NOT end up that inside/out with that type of backswing Haney wants you to make. I mentioned several times on this site that the only time Tiger hit it well from that Haney backswing is that he recovered from being so over-rotated in the downswing and swung it left enough (for him) to hit a good shot. However most of the time he would shift down to what some like call the elbow plane and just let the club swing very inside/out.

Nothing we didn't already know but nice to have actual #'s to back it up. I wonder how much Tiger is going to fight learning to hit the "straight ball." He mentioned in his interview that it's difficult for him to not see it shaping one way or the other and it was affecting his aiming since he is hitting it straighter.

Also thing it's smart for Sean to get Tiger to hit more of a pull cut to get rid of that 10* inside/out quickly and then bring him back towards the middle.

Interesting that Mahan hit a stinker of a pitch from about that distance to lose the match to GMac at the Ryder Cup in Wales.

I think with these shots it is partly about not having a true understanding of the shot.

I will bet he is trying to do something he shouldn't.

Funny for me to say that about a pro, but I think it is true.

6 majors, 7 WGCs, 40 wins worldwide from 2004-2010...I've been trying to zero outTrackman; maybe I should be trying to swing 10 degrees inside/out!

Totally agree with this. I think Haney had Tiger lay it off to fix the stuck inside downswing. Makes no sense to lay it off and try and go 10 degrees inside out. If I were Foley, I wouldn't throw Haney under the bus until he gets a Tiger/Foley win.

He did finish T4 in the 2010 Masters (Hank's last major on the clock), same finish he had with Foley this year. But in between the two he had a "I'll do it myself" period which he stunk up the tour. I'm guessing whatever he had numbers wise got a lot worse during that period of time. I'm no Haney fan, but Tiger has shown the ability to F stuff up when left to his own devices. If it was all Haney, I sure hope Woods kept his receipt.

We could ALL say this though I think Tiger is so talented he could make any method or trackman numbers work.

You have no clue!

If it is you who says so, it is more than sure that I do.

P.S. Stop going after my posts like a shadow (another "shadow" on another forum LOL)with a vicious desire to humiliate me down. Just do not read them instead writing stupid comments without any merits and making yourself even a bigger idiot than you really are.

So, do you think that the impact of Haney's former teachings is still so powerful after so many months that a new coach couldn't get rid of it whether it is so negatively crucial leaving a former longtime no.1 with such 'hacker teritory' shots ? How long is Foley already with Woods ? 1 week, 2 weeks ? or 'a bit longer' LOL.

Cheers
