To all the esteemed Authorized Instructors of The Golfing Machine.

As you know we announced at The Golfing Machine Teaching Summit in December that the 7th Edition was being developed.

Well it is off to press and if all goes well we should have it ready to ship by April 1, 2006. This new edition has over 900 changes made by Mr. Kelley to his great work. We are excited to be able to present you with this advanced information. I wanted you the Authorized Instructor base to be the first to know of this exciting NEWS!

We will follow up with you on this and other projects in the upcoming "The Plane Truth" newsletter.

Thanks for all your support. We look forward to any assisting you with The Golfing Machine information or any pre-orders of the 7th edition you may have.

Sincerely,

The Golfing Machine, Staff

Joe, Doug and Beth

So...what were the other 3?

I think the 3 Essentials were Imperatives in a previous edition. And, I may be wrong, but it seems like I read on one of the TGM forums that in the earliest editions, there may have been more than 6 Imperatives.

There were 5 imperatives, the three essentials, flat left wrist and clubhead lag pressure point. Straight plane line was missing in early editions.

If they want to get the message across, the next edition should be a cheap paperback edition-- put a free copy in every motel room in Myrtle Beach, Orlando, North Carolina, Hawaii, Monterey, etc. next to the Gideon Bible. If it's just another over priced under distributed golf book, who cares?

Not to many folks contributed from what I understand. I ordered mine to see the changes but plan to keep on working on the 3 imperatives. Overall, this is great news since it shows that TGM is alive and kicking. I like the idea of distributing the book but it would tend to scare off more folks than atract I'm afraid. If I had not had a brother in law talk me into going back to it, I would not have stayed with TGM. Glad I did now, well worth the trip.

At some point, I wonder if we all have to ask ourselves what our intent is relative to all things TGM. I can't imagine any of the world's best players giving two hoots for 1 or 900 changes to the yellow book. Naturally, instructor types might take interest, but at some point, I can't help but think this engenders "looking beyond the mark." Aren't we reminded in the Bible about "always learning, but never coming to the knowledge of the truth?" It seems to me that there are only so many things that can be taught. Most important things related to the golf swing have to be learned ourselves. After basic fundamentals, don't we all have to accept "digging the rest of it out of the dirt?" Last time I checked, we all love playing the game. It's a small minority that wants to make the golf swing so cerebral and academic.

Wallaceja,

You make very valid points.

It is my mission to improve the world of golf, by first improving the golf swings as much as any one man can.

TGM is a tool in this regard.

That's it.

There are other sites where all things in the book are studied but never 'backed back out' in to everyday english. Thank god for them, becuase what I do best it make sense of all thing golf.

The 7th edition has been on the table for some time.

Joe and Co. took the audios and the written notes and made the changes.

Anything else would have led tosepulation and posisitoning and marketing of specific opinions of any involved.

Any fair minded person will agree that this version is probably as 'true to Homer' as possible.

Where did the 900 changes come from? Homer passed away many years ago and that does seem like a lot of changes. Is this is really new information?

There are pages upon pages of notes that were for the 7th edition. Most of them are typography errors and the like, font change, or minor word changes. However a few new concepts make it in too.

Why o why is this book not being produced electronically???

I personally do not have a copy, and...won't get one. I feel that I've learnt most of the main concepts from the forums, because of coherent explanations and good visual examples. This is one project that MUST be put on DVD for ease of understanding.

The general public have had 30 years to show an interest, and they haven't, so ....

anyone know what the latest timing on the 7th edition of the book is ?

I emailed Joe a few weeks ago and he responded, saying there had been some delays. He said he was shooting for around the 1st of May...

What's the deal with this 7th Edition anyway....

Were these notes of Homer Kelly's actual, finished revisions that he was ready to put into the book...?
