A long, boring post but maybe will help someone.

A different prospective or a view from the outside. (Before TGM and what most are faced with trying to develop a good , repeating swing).
I would think many will identify with the following? Even those who now understand the "Book" (memories, unless they had the advantage of being helped, coached, by an A.I.).
Please don't reply to my post ,"self serving", "blowing your own horn", etc., as I have heard those things before. If you do, you can kiss my bxxt in advance. And I really never had a good swing, according to TGM principals, just usually a repeating, serviceable swing, good hand and eye coordination. The purpose of this post is to help others to avoid the pitfalls of attempting to learn a servicable, uncompensated golf swing. (seems few, a very small percentage, do!)
I have played golf for 49 years, mostly well, sometimes much better, sometimes over my head and of course some bad rounds. (66-8 birdies-2 bogies, both 3 putts), I've shot 31/45-45/34-difficulty rolling the rock and being hyper (can't/couldn't tolerate slow play) were my downfall. My handicap was, after my first year, always a single digit and for a number of years was 3 or below-best +1. Won club championships, lots of 4 balls, played for big bucks (for me). Fortunately I was blessed with good hand, eye coordination, seldom underclubed and was able to visualize around the greens, plus, I played a lot, practiced a lot. Unfortunately I had more putting strokes than clubs in my bag. 34 putts was a good round.
I've had lessons from countless pros (probable 100 different ones, some in top 100, [two A.I.'s recently, another story, omitted here]) read countless books, watched 100's of videos. Played w/ PGA and mini tour players, played in many foreign countries, many states.... Some of these lesson were so ridiculous, if the hilarity was omitted, they would be classified as unarmed robbery!
I attribute my success to , although I lived miles away, I sometimes seemed to live on the golf course. ( If you hang long enough, you'll get used to hanging!)Fortunate again as I was able to do this and maintain a upper middle class life style.
The meat of this post is, I always played, almost daily, certainly weekly, with a band aid (i.e.-recent post, "Quick Tips!") My swing was always somewhat of a reverse C, I always had too much lateral movement on the downswing below the waist, compensation was necessary to strike acceptable shots. I had a long mental list of these band aids (tips) and while warming up before playing I, if necessary that day, tried them until one seemed to work and went with that one for the day. Amusing, an after thought, I always played my best (ball striking) when I had only one thought , "take your best, relaxed backswing." Probably just another compensation allowing my learned swing to be repeating.
I have shot 75 or under using all of the following tips, band aids of the day (I'm sure I have forgotten /omitted many!). A one knuckle grip, a 4 knuckle grip, leave the right thumb and fore finger off the club (enhances use of PP #1,I'm a swinger!), stay with the shot, stay down till ball hits the ground, keep head behind the ball, don't use your hands, just turn your shoulders and hit the ball, take it to the top with your left hand/arm/shoulders (pick one but none a hands controlled pivot), keep weight on the inside of your rear foot, take it back outside, take it back inside, don't use your right hand or arm, swing only with your left, all left is all right (a title of a Peggy Kirk Bell article), stand more upright, bend your knees more, turn your hips, turn the top-hold the bottom(Gary Player), keep the club face on the ball as long as possible (flat left wrist), Arch the left wrist at the top( 4 Magic Moves- ala Tom Lehman, endless! The list for putting tips/ band aids is probably longer.
Several years ago, I'm 73 now, all the above caught up with me. I had to stop playing as I developed a hitch, similar to the putting "yips", at the top of my backswing. This didn't develop over night but once it started and I started applying my "band aids", it got worse-paralysis by analysis! The peculiar part is I never lost my practice swing! Was told by several pros, "That is great, much better than you know." " Just hit the ball with that swing." Unfortunately I could not take that swing when presented with a ball!
During this, hitch at the top period, I attended a 1 on 1, well known, Golf School, got a lesson from a top 100, got a lesson from 2 different A.I.'s, several others, to no avail. I don't blame any of these lesson givers, maybe the golf school guy a little, for my lack of progress/recovery as none of them had ever seen my acceptable swing. Probably thought, probably true, "This guy is really xxxxed up!" "No hope for him, he does everything wrong and won't live long enough to.........."
Actually since I started reading TGM and posts at this and several other websites all TGM related, I have managed to discard the band aid list. A family members health has precluded my practicing or playing but I hope to resume in the future. I am tall, thin and in good health, score Level 1 on physical tests for 60 year olds.
My interest in this site and TGM is to learn as much as I am capable about the Book. I have developed a faith, TGM has all the answers! You/we just need someone to explain/demonstrate the contents so we can fully understand and incorporate the principals in our swings. Get rid of those compensations.

Given the post you made, I supposed this is rather ironic, but if you have not tried the pro-aim glasses, they may help you with your putting. Certainly worth checking out if you haven't. Very helpful.

Brian says he may do an outline guide TGM video. I hope this is still in the pipe line.

EdZ,
Strange thing happened, when the swing yips started to appear, the putting stroke improved immensely. Probably because I settled on only one stroke pattern and an old, white Zebra putter.

The brevity of the book was Homer’s intend. It is a blessing and a curse. The more you learn the easier it reads. I was lucky to spend time with Yoda and have not only much fog lifted but have my eyes and mind see the clearing better too. Yoda will be changing the future of The Golfing Machine in the next few years whether the home office likes it or not. Hopefully more AIs will be better informed and widely available to any one. At the last workshop, an AI told Yoda that he learned more about TGM that weekend, then from all of his AI classes and he was a second level GSEM. I know the book can be a struggle, it’s a journey. Take your time and smell the improvement once and I while.

6bee1dee,
Your enlightenment? "fog lifted" Was this primarily because you saw demonstrations, tried to duplicate? Pictures, seeing, feeling, rather than reading, 100 times more effective?

I realize that seeing was believing. But I also knew the book, the basic concepts well enough to follow the demostrations in the classroom without having to need background information about what I was seeing.
Also, hopefully because of Yoda, more AIs will be available.
Last point, the stuff is sooooooooo easy to do. maybe too easy.
