A question for the videophiles

Is there a way to connect a camera (Casio) to a laptop and have the image appear on the laptop screen in realtime? Basically to use the laptop like the camera's viewfinder. The laptop is a Mac if that matters.

Thanks.

I can play the video through my computer but not record with C Swing.

Same experience here with the c-swing. You might be able to try connecting the camera via rgb cable and view on an external monitor or possibly a laptop. It was not a live video being shot real time but I was able to get the camera playback on a tv screen.

If you can't use the USB converter ad hook it up through webcam software, how about using the HDMI out to a converter going in to the laptop? Not sure if that is only for playback.

Lookup if the Casio can be used like a webcam. ETA: Okay I did, and it looks like answer is No.

My bad!!

I was thinking about my old miniDV camera in the earlier post

Maybe a new version of cswing software has this capability

In the software version I have USB capture is not supported using Easy Capture.

A FireWire must be used with a mini DV camera.
