Looks effortless. The hands seem to have very little rotation, then in the business area they turn over. Is he swinging left a bunch?

The compatible components would be the weak left hand and the upright posture matching a slight stack and reverse with plenty of free release. You wouldnt expect the left arm to fall as vertically as it does with that posture but he leans in, sticks his ass out and drops the arms as he backs up and releases.

If I had someone who despised the left side of the course, I'd weaken the grip, move them in, swing it straight up and pull it down. That face is really open really late coming down.

I'm not that enamoured with it.

Hugh shift in axis tilt. Goes from an almost reverse pivot to huge rearward tilt. That hip action is CRAZY and tough for anyone else to replicate. You would have to be tall and supple to make it work like that.

It's also partly the reason he lays it off. He's trying hard to get that club behind him instead of OTT. Major drop to the elbow plane.. mostly attributable to his patience on arm swing and the huge hip bump.

From about 1/2 way down to 1/2 way though it's awesome. If he showed up at your lesson tee, how many of you would be messing with this swing?

It would depend on what he came to me wanting to fix but i think you could make him more consistent by changing his setup a bit which would allow him to not have to lay it off. Personally, i just hate laid off looking backswings.

He's doing it for a reason though Jim.

Everyone has an opinion and personally I don't like the amount he lifts his arms vertically towards the end of the backswing. This causes him to loose connection with his upper torso at the top and creates a laid off and open clubface position. I'm sure Brian will say this is rubbish along with many other arm chair swing experts on this forum..... but I will tell you this much. I wached him hit ball for 20 mins at the Masters this year and every shot was a leaky cut that had a 20 degree leftward looking divot and the ball finshed 30-40 feet right of his target. If his arm swing finsihed with the turn of the upper torso he seqeuncing would be much more consistent IMO look at this ball striking stats.... average to poor, gets it done with his shortgame and mental attitude which are both top 10 in the world quality.
