Hmmm....
As I said, this should remain a GOLF discussion forum, but my 2c on the Vista and IE thing, only because I sense a bit of mass hysteria with little informed arguement, and if there's one thing I LOVE

it's informed arguement.
Stop reading now if you aren't interested.
I have ALL of the Microsoft Certifications, (NO, I am NOT a one eyed MS fanboi) I am the Brian Manzella (big call I know) equivalent in MS Training (very similar styles which is why I like it around here) and I own a Microsoft Gold Certified company with 5 tech's and a client base of around 3000 PC's and about 300 servers, both government and corporate.
I have been around since DOS, seen Windows 3.0, 3.1, 95, 98, ME (BLEH) NT, 2000, 2003 and 2008.
I have facilitated technical sessions at MS conferences.
I'm a crap golfer.
*bona fides established*
IE is only an issue if you don't have the latest Windows updates, OR if you frequent shall we say "unsavoury" websites.
EVERYONE regardless of browser prefference should always maintain a DECENT (not free) anti virus software. THE MOST malicious virus type that exists today is directed at LINUX, and has been for about 5 years that we know of. Google "rootkit".
There are also plenty of malicious attacks out there for MAC's.
If something seems too good to be true (POPUP, "Hey, I can make your computer faster, CLICK ME!!" POPUP, "free anti virus CLICK ME!!!") and you click on it..... I have a nice bridge for sale.
A little bit of common sense, and a bit of education goes a long way.
I was a beta tester for Vista (you may argue that YOU still are

) In my experience having 6 PC's at home running it, 10 in my office and about 400 amongst my client base, the issues are NOT with Vista but with third party drivers.
For example you have a 3 year old scanner, a 5 year old printer and some wierd a$$ tablet device that you bought 2 or 3 years ago.
Will Vista recognise them? probably not.
Is that Vista's fault?
I don't think so, but neither do I think it's the hardware manufacturers fault.
A line has to be drawn somewhere, and the hardware manufactureres have to decide what hardware they are going to update their drivers for, and what they are not going to update drivers for.
It is always a finacial decision, "should we spend money updating the drivers for our 5 year old equipment"?
Can you still get parts for the Ford Edsel? Yes you probably can but why would you want to?
It's the same concept, when it's time to move on, out with ALL of the old and in with the new.
We could go on for hours, and I do in other forums, let's NOT here because it will just bore everyone to death.
The bottom line is, if you use a new operating system without first checking for hardware driver compatibility (with the hardware vendor, not the pimply faced kid in the computer store) then you are asking for trouble.
If you use any operating system without Anti virus software then you are asking for trouble.
If you don't keep your operating system and browser patched ( they ALL have vulnerabilities) then you are asking for trouble.
If you frequent dodgy websites, well, you get the picture by now
That's probably more than 2c worth, and I am not trying to put anyone down, or dis anyones operating system or browser of choice, but as in all things use some common sense and be safe.
"FORE"!!!
