I have noticed that Adam Scott has some sort of procedure to take his left hand grip. Is he aligning the back of his hand with the club face? Once he finishes the placement, he does not seem to ever change his left hand position until well after the ball is struck...that is, no re-gripping as you see other players do prior to the swing.

I'd say that's exactly what he's doing. Every player out there has some routine like that that also works like an anchor...maybe the way tennis players pick at the strings (or their underwear as it were for Nadal).
