Advice for any aspiring teacher

Build a reputation for really knowing your stuff by helping golfers dramatically. Not with extended "lessons" necessarily at all, but by knowing exactly what adjustment might be needed to fix a problem. And most faults are fixed with "adjustments" or tweaks that the pupil does not experience as "overhaul". If you don't know them of course you can't give such help.

George Peper, former editor in chief of GOLF mag told of ONE TIP he got from Gary Smith [that made him hire him on the spot for the staff of the mag] that made for a change in his already single-digit handicap of 4 strokes.

That's all it takes.

I'll add that some students do need an "overhaul" however you should be able to make enough changes in the first lesson to make them him a really solid shot so that they believe that what you are saying will work and make them strike the ball better.

I usually only guarrantee 2 things in my lessons:

1) You'll leave my lesson hitting it better than when you came
2) I'll get you to hit a solidly compressed shot before you leavek

I like your atitude jim_0068 i've had some bad experiences with coaches. Who've promised the world and then set about systematically destroying my game. For someone like me honesty is very much appreciated...

Jim, your goal with your pupils is A-1. Yup. and a good teacher CAN get them striking solid shots. Accomplishing it, not just "tending toward" it. That's my kinda coach.

I'm no teacher but i gave a friend a piece of advice which he took no notice of at all and he went to a PGA pro for a lesson and the pro told him the same thing i did and now he's changing things. The point is he listened to the pro because of his qualfication, i think its a physiological thing. I'd say get qualfied.

How much to you charge Jim, i'll be around in an hour :) :) :)
Very positive, i like it.
