An apology & a request - any teachers in the Seattle area?

After a post by Mike O to a thread I started asking for advice on my swing, I realized that I may not have been clear about my intentions.

For that, I'd like to apologize. I'm new here and have been down a lot of different golf paths in my relatively short (~5 years) of golf-life.

When I posted my swing videos, I neglected to mention that I had previously purchased all of Brian's videos and have been following threads on this forum for several months, trying to watch/read/listen to a lot of advice. I posted my swing hoping for some guidance in applying what I've been digesting on my own.

I apologize if my post came across as an attempt to solicit "Free Advice".

I would love to be able to travel to see one of the great teachers on this forum but I don't see how I can make that happen in the near term.

What I should have done at the outset, I believe, is make the request I'll do now:

I'd like to know if there are any instructors here who are in the Seattle area. I'm aware that Martin is down in Bend, OR, and that may be the closest location to me...and the most practical place for me to travel if I can make that happen.

Thanks, and again, I apologize if I didn't follow the proper etiquette in how I went about asking for guidance on the forum.

Apologies ?

I hardly see a need to apologize - its a forum - free advise is given out freely... Folks have been posting swings on this site and asking for feedback for a long time...

Agree with TPG. People post their swings for comments all of the time. It's up Brian, Kevin, Jim, Damon, etc if they wish to chime in. What Brian frowns upon is other instructors posting information (advertisements) of their teachings, products, etc without permission.

However, students posting questions, videos, etc are part of the learning process. I don't see why there would be a problem. A picture is worth a thousand words and a video can go a long way to helping to answer a question.

Kevin,

I agree, you should go see Martin in Bend, he's a great guy and a knowledgeable instructor.
There was a thred posted recently from Brian about any interest in a tour stop in Bend, OR so I'm sure it is being considered. In the mean time keep us updated on your progress.
You have made alot of progress in only 5 years!

Agreed.

Kevin,
Here's some ideas. First, it depends what you are looking for in an instructor - as one legitimate avenue is to work on it yourself. If you like the Golfing Machine - then you might look up Don Shaw in Marysville - I don't know what kind of teacher he is but he worked with Homer and there would be some good stories if you were interested in that side of it. Not sure if it's available or not - but you might also consider working with Brian over the internet or via video/DVD of your swing - seems pretty easy now a days - you just don't get that instant feedback that a live lesson would allow. I'm originally from Seattle - just curious where exactly are you located or where do you play? Good Luck!

Martin Chuck—no brainer.

I met Don Shaw, and he is a very nice man.

But...

When I asked this question at the end of the TGM Summit 2 and half years ago:

"why do TGM types have this exaggerated both arms straight, bend right wrist finish on a chip shot (I mentioned I was once one of them) and that PGA TOUR PLAYERS don't do this..."

He said, "Because they don;t know what they are doing."

Go see Martin Chuck, and if you wish, he can send me some videos of your swing and I will collaborate with him.

No brainer.

Agreed. Don is a great man, but Martin is more flexible to your needs.;)
