Failed attempt at a S&T move, but not some sort of example why the pattern sucks. What did he shoot? I'm so over the golf swing...

I wonder if it's a failed S&T attempt or some golfer coming very close to reverse pivoting. Don't know a lot about S&T, but it does call for the club to come further inside with steeper shoulders than this golfer has. I'm not a big fan of the S&T pattern, one of the reasons being is that there's a lot more to it than what most golfers think of it which is usually thinking along the lines of 'oh, I just keep the weight on my left leg throughout the swing and that's the S&T swing!'

Argh.

i think he needs to rotate his left forearm more clockwise in the backswing and try to keep his weight more on his leftside...

OK, let me try out what I've learnt on this site.

As the gentleman maintains his weight on the left foot in the backswing, he is unable to bump his hips to the left on the downswing, he's already there. Low point is so far back he has to stand up in the downswing to avoid hitting the ground. I would call this a reverse pivot because his head tilts back towards the target at the top of the swing.

Looks like a man who's learnt to play with a reverse pivot, he's going to hear about stack and tilt and think that's what I do, my golfing instincts are sound. Looks like a big over-the-top move at the start of the downswing with a loss of height which he recovers through impact to a beautiful non-Hoganesque follow through which is perfect if you've just hit a six down the ground in cricket.

The worry is I'm betting he has some pain in his lower back after each swing which, if he plays alot, could create issues by the time he reaches middle age. Bottom line: Don't try this at home.

golf swing - Yahoo! Video

I think ?&? teachers might advice the golfer:

- hands not addressed forward;
- left foot not turned out enough
- Shoulder was not turning in tilt circle.
- leaning the lower body instead of the upper body,
- to much shoulder rotation,
- lack of hip slide, spun out
- flying wedges deformed so soon…

Dare not to speak on behalf of Brain, but i guess something like:-

lean left is no good, low point still going back, no spine tilt, not dynamic, soft draw or never slice again pattern suit him best...;)

Just a few hacker's point of view...all might be balo...:D

It's funny because a bunch of people on here who know a lot about the golf swing couldn't tell if he was doing S&T or just hacking with a reverse pivot, that pretty much says all you need to know about S&T

I'm no fan of the S&T method, but it can work for a lot of people. Romano isn't really reverse pivoting here, IMO, because he still keeps a good amount of weight on the left side on the downswing. That's why people, like myself, wonder if he's trying to S&T because he may have fell in love with watching the method without being able to properly apply it. Or he may just be on the border of just reverse pivoting because of a flawed golf swing. But when golfers do execute the S&T properly, it's certainly not a 'hack' pattern.

Even Bennett and Plumber wouldn't approve of the socks. He should have a one year ban from that event for such a grievous breach of fashion.

+2 on the socks. You may have a crappy swing, but there is no excuse for those socks, especially with the scratch Ray has!!
