Anatomy Or Otherwise?

There are a lot of different-looking swings out there....even among good players.

Furyk, Trevino, Floyd, Barber, Stadler etc. etc.

And shoot.....even aside from the "freakos"......there's just a lot of plain ol different (as in- varying) swings all together.

...

You always hear the players say things like:

"It doesn't feel like a shift."

"This is the way I've always done it."

"Feels better."

"Has always felt better."

"I just hit it better."

etc. etc.

etc...

And even you Brian....you have that lift in your backswing. You say you tried hard to fix it and you hit it much worse.

...

So how much does anatomy play into all this? Is this just "how their bodies WORK"?

How about psychology?

How about "nothing in particular cause this is just the way it happened to work out"? (otherwise known as NIPCTIJTWIHTWO)

...

And then there are the more "orthodox" guys. (maybe hard to define?)

Would you say they hold any kind of an advantage??

some people have went as far as to break down in what order the muscles fire during the swing. Some players are very close to this naturally so naturally they will have an easier time swinging. Other players are very far away, so if you dont fire the muscles correctly then the body does not work correctly and the club does not swing very well. some players go away from the preferred muscle pattern but somehow return to it in the downswing. Some players go away from this pattern and don't return to it at all during the swing. some people just have advantages that others dont. example; Women tend to be more stable because their hips are wider and this allows the base of their spine to not be cramped, which in turn allows a smoother motion in relation to base of spine, pelvis, and hip area.

Some people have a natural golf gift, this gift is unlike any other sport. Take a great athlete and have him swing a golf club, you will be hit or miss on whether or not he can pick up golf as fast as he/she does other sports. Their golf gift is that their body is set up to accommodate a golf swing much easier then other people. That is why some people never have to work on their swing, while others can work on it all the time and not get better. Personally I think most people look in the wrong areas in relation to this golf swing, not enough focus on what the body does.

Anatomy plays a MUCH larger role in the playout of "golf swing" in each person than is ever given credit.

In many ways that simply aren't analyzable by an observer: joint flexibility, length of limbs, center of balance of the body, eyesight, size of hands, naturally endowed muscular structure...

You've got to use the body you came with, and everyone's body is simply not the picture-ideal, model golfer, that fills magazines.

And for COMPETitive golf, there is a whole array of other talents and gifts needed, including opportunity, family of origin psychological issues, personal passion for the game, "life happens" issues, etc.

And fitting properly: greatly overlooked and subtle. 90% of golfers are badly served by their clubs, making higher levels of play impossible.
