The 2013-2014 Golf Digest "America'a Best Teachers" list was announced today and so was the "Best Teachers in Your State" list.

Congratulations to the Brian Manzella Golf Academy Instructors named to their State's List:

Damon Lucas - Maryland #5
Mike Jacobs - New York #18
Chris Como - Texas #18

And, not only was I fortunate enough to be named the #1 Teacher in the state of Louisiana, I was voted into the Top 50 Teachers in America list (#40) for the first time, and I believe that I am the first teacher from Louisiana to make the list.

It is a humbling honor, and something that has been a goal of mine for as long as the list existed.

I'd like to thank Golf Digest Senior Writer Matthew Rudy who oversees the list and all of the folks among the 1,200 voters who thought enough of me to cast a vote my way.

I would be remiss if I didn't thank Golf Magazine and the top notch Top 100 Teachers in America list and organization that has certainly helped me immensely. All the articles, videos, and events that I've been fortunate enough to be a part of, which no doubt, helped me get voted onto this list. I'd like to thank David DeNunzio, Mike Walker, Jessica Marksbury and Michael Chwasky especially.

Also, along with the three great friends and Manzella Instructors I mentioned above (Damon Lucas, Michael Jacobs, and Chris Como), I'd like to acknowledge the rest of the guys in what I believe to be the best group of teachers in the game:

Manzella Instructors Richard Franklin, Kevin Shields, Steve Khatib, Matt Bryda, Leslie Cain, Rick Dandy, Mike Granato, Steve Greffen, Jim Kobylinski, Jon Hardesty, Billy McKinney, Phil Rosenbaum, Ryan Smither, and the three guys that have been with me from the beginning—Michael Finney, Chris Hamburger, and Tom Bartlett.

The irony of ironies is that I am #40 on the "Top 50" list just ahead of my mentor Ben Doyle at #41. On the list—and in reality—I am standing on some great teaching shoulders.

I know my Dad would be proud and my Mom is, and without them and my beautiful wife Lisa, I just wouldn't be on this great run of honors the last few years. As most of you know, I am a handful.

Also, congrats to all the other teachers on the Top 50 & States lists.

Awesome news Brian! Keep on fighting the good fight as NOLA's golf ambassador. The sky is the limit for you and your team.

Congratulations Brian, well deserved. If one were to count the students who identified the best lesson they ever received, you would be number one easily. GD quantified what everyone who has learned from you already knows. Enjoy it and get some rest while the Saints are on a roll!

Brian, you really deserve this. I don't know you (other than the 30 second meeting at the US Open at Olympic, practice round 9th fairway--remember me??) but it is so obvious just from this website and all the videos you've put online FOR FREE that you have worked extremely hard and more importantly extremely smart. I've learned more about the golf swing from your internet information than in all my years studying golf through books, videos and lessons. That is 44 years and counting and that includes a couple of lessons from Ben. Ben was/is good, you are great. No BS. Thanks and congratulations.
Tony

Congratulations Brian, well deserved. Your desire and knowledge and passion have been an inspiration to me as a golf instructor.

Congratulations, Brian. You should be #1 in the country as well. When I played college golf, I was able to accomplish more than I ever expected because of your dedication to teaching. Thank you and congrats again!
