another chain snap question: the finish?

Is a wraparound finish(ala Wie) the result of having a big downswing pivot, but not enough snap of the kinetic chain? It doesn't look like this kind of finish was common in the olden days.

I think she is just flexible and uses a swinging motion.

I think she "bounces back" on a lot of her iron shots though. (just going by my Visual Memory Banks Catologue) Maybe uses more positive r. arm torque? (FATS)

i dont think its a flexibility issue. snead was plenty flexible and didnt finish that way. im not that flexible and can wrap around as much as wie.

its wasted motion...not necessarily saying tiger does no efficiently use his kinetic chain but it does play a factor in the closing rate of the clubface

Maybe it just has to do with personal rhythm and how hard one is swinging at it. The three you've mentioned (Tiger, Wie, and Holmes) all take pretty good cuts at it with the driver. Snead never seemed like he really went after one.

In my best i-talian voice.........BALONEY! In my opinion, yours could be different, more people have wrap around finishes today because of:

1) swing changes
2) clubhead speed
3) flexibility

Back in the day more people swung much more right and had much more of a "soft draw" type finish where they went much more "up the wall" after the finish. This would limit the "wrap around look." Also the excessive reverse tilting (reverse c) through the ball would limit this as well; if you aren't allowing yourself to come out of your tilt and letting the club PULL YOU to a finish, the momemtum of the club is going to breakdown your arms and you'll finish more above the left shoulder.

I snap my chain pretty well and hit the ball pretty far and even believe that the wrap around finish is a result of what i said above and lot to do with the clubhead momemtum. I said in a different thread how after impact i lost the grip of my draw 3 wood and ended up in no finish and the ball still went the approximate distance i thought it would normall go even though the club went flying down the fairway about 30-40 yards.

Re-read "perfect pivot #2" that brian wrote, he discusses this.

How would you know its wasted motion? Did you read a book and it told you?
Where is your proof? What testing has been done?
Just asking questions ...are there any exact answers

It was a general response, there are clearly other factors...id agree with what you say...I would also look at the pivot, the further right the delivery path shifts the earlier a player loses their forward tilt allowing the the right shoulder decrease acceleration sooner...the sooner this "braking" occurs the more vertical the exiting plane angle...i'd pay attention to the relationships of the pivot

that extra twisting sure looks like it would hurt your lower back dont you think? what do I know I don't read books...
