Any tips to make the club feel heavy?

Thanks to this forum I've finally started to improve after being stuck at a 12ish hcp for the last 15 years! During that long plateau, I tried every pop golf instruction tip known to man-kind and never improved - thanks Brian and everyone.
However, I feel I'm capable of being alot better. For a few weeks last season I drove the ball easily 30 -50 yards farther than usual and for the life of me I can't recreate how I did it. I seem to remember the club feeling heavy (bending) during the start down, and feeling it kick or release just after impact. All attempts to recreate this feeling have failed. I don't remember doing any sort of float loading, just felt the club being stressed and unstressed through the ball.
Any suggestions on making the club feel heavy would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Ben

When I hit driver well, that's the sensation I get - not so much about the club feeling heavy, but feeling the stress on the shaft. For me, it works when I have a slower backswing with what feels like a pause at the top (but actually isn't - it's just completing the backswing).

I love that feeling, it is a shame it is so elusive.

Teris, I think you have it right, complete the backswing, a lot of my problems stem from being short and quick

Lagging clubhead takeaway has been great for me.

+ loose spaghetti arms and shoulder sockets.

+ "all you have to do with your hands it hold on to the club."

+ "drop and pivot." (not for everyone as I take it but at least experiment and/or learn how to do it well and you'll be ahead of the game)

+.....

Hmmm....

In other words- get Confessions Of A Former Flipper if you don't have it. It's like $10 and a HELL of a video.

Or in other words Pt. 2 (but prolly should be Pt. 1....i.e. Step #1)......if you slice or your clubface is too open get Never Slice Again first. You need to fix the face first before you start worrying about delaying your Release and all that.

Also- look into heavier clubs. ;)

Seriously tho.......surely there's a point where it will bog you down swingspeed-wise.....

But extra Trigger Delay insurance and clubhead feel is a hell of a thing to have....and this would only be hypothesizing......but I'd bet you could GAIN yardage. (so long as you don't take it too far)

Not sure of overall weight but Hogan and Moe Norman I believe used clubs with E swingweight. Ernie Els is like D8. Etc. I think it is pretty common.

I like heavier clubs............they do more of the work for me. Loading....storing.......swinging in general.

Thanks for all responses....
If the heat ever lets up, I've got some new things to try. Gonna try slowing it down some and making sure I finish the backswing before whalloping the ball with my pivot. I think with the driver I tend to overaccelerate when really trying to crack one! At the range my drives usually go over the 250 fence, but nothing like that 2 weeks last year!

Anyway, it sure is great scoring in the 70's most of the time - thanks again to BMANZ.COM

Birdie-Man,
I've been using the DGs300 "superlites" for 2 years now in the irons and can't imagine going back. I gained 5-6 yards with the irons immediately. It does make sense that heavier clubs might help with trigger delay tho...
Wish I could afford a trip to Louisville, bet the man could find the issue/wobble quickly - I'll dig it out of the dirt eventually.

Hey everyone's different man. And I am no expert on the subject. ('twas only a hypothesis)

I also need to make the trip to the Mecca of Brian.

Me too.
