Just wondering. I got sober 11 years ago and am 11strokes better today. I don't think it is as much what I do on the golf course. It was the mental learning over a 2 yr period where I quit playing and practicing, and only thought about the swing, in my backyard, at night, by myself, clipping blades of grass.

No, but I do like to have a few when I get home at night and get on the forum and say something dumb and get up in the morning and see the ramblings on I do. Probably not fun for some of you, but I get a kick out of it..BTW Ive only had 1 beer tonight.:)

Haha...I do that every once in a while. It worries me...!

Unfortunately...

Two course records, both with booze involved. I don't even remember the shots I hit on a few holes of one of those rounds...

I asked Dr. Gio Valiente about this one, and he referred to the "two-beer-buzz" effect. I was talking about a lot more than two, and I can only chalk it up to: whatever physical disadvantages (loss of coordination, balance, etc.) is more than made up for by the mental "simplification" while drinking; no swing thoughts, just ball-target-go.

A few beers helps because it relaxes me and my swing is smoother. But I also have attention problems when drinking so after about 6-7 holes I start to go downhill.

I've noticed a "bell curve" effect mixing beer and golf. After a couple, I start to play better because I just walk up to it, take a couple of practice swings and hit it. If I get too deep into the red snappers though, my results go downhill quickly.

I will say that I drank a little more while playing before I broke 80 for the first time. Now I'll have 1 or 2 on the front and maybe one on the back because I'm usually trying hard to beat my personal best.

When drinking on the course, the shanks actually get very funny. Plus limiting your swing thoughts to " I hope I don't wet myself on this drive" can be liberating. Seriously, I cannot drink and golf, save the booze for scrambles.
