Anybody hitting irons fat with new "Release" swing?

This new swing is doing wonders for my driver. Much better AoA numbers, completely different trajectory, a huge improvement. Scary. It took me a few swings to get the hand/wrist action since I'm coming into the ball much differently than before with the massive forward leaning shaft and massive pivot move.

However... with wedges and irons I am hitting some inconsistent fat shots. Maybe not enough "jump" or perhaps just a mental thing. Hula hoop?

My swing was of the massively delofted, forward leaning variety. Low trajectory throughout the bag. I realize there is going to be a big adjustment period but just wondering if there are tips for somebody chunking it. I do own the video and will rewatch it again....

I had some problems with shorter pitches and hitting it fat(rehabbing from knee surgery, so no full swings) and found that I had to really keep the hands going forward, up, in, around--however you want to think about it-- along with everything else.

Maybe your weight shift using your wedges and irons is questionable when attempting the new release action. Try hitting with most of your weight on your lead foot, and only use the rear leg for transient thrust to stop you from getting your weight on to your rear foot. You should normally do this with wedges, but try it with the irons up to 5-iron and see what happens. It could only be a sequential timing issue.

Then there is the issue of ball placement and if it should be moved back in the stance for your new release. I'm only guessing, and you should wait for guidance from a forum instructor.

Narrow the stance; stay at home?

It's got to be somewhere in the Going Normal portion. I've got a lot of pulling/dragging to unlearn and possibly exacerbated by being a lefty who swings right handed. I have been able to get that right wrist releasing and replacing the left arm at or just after the bottom, but the body motion must not be there yet. Huge divots on all iron/wedges. Needs work.

Possible - thanks - will focus here

Makes good sense... definitely too much weight moving on some of these shorter shots. Will give this a look tomorrow... thanks

I have similar issues (and similar impact on my driver swing).

I think the new release is fine, but the leg action and setup of former handle draggers etc need work.

The only accurate information in this post is about ball position. There is nothing in the new release requiring more weight on the lead foot either at address or early in the DS.
