On this and other "Golfing Machine themed" forums, my long-time teacher and mentor Ben Doyle is offen discussed.

People (who weren't there) tell stories about thing that happened in Ben's presence or peopel who have spent a comparatively short time with Ben (or none at all) discuss his teaching methods.

So here goes....FROM THE HORSE'S MOUTH:

If one is a swinger, Has lag, flat left wrist, hands controlled pivot, all the good TGM components:

Where will his hands be (when his left leg obtains a straight position?

Ben Doyle: Both arms straight (The follow-through).

Or, what are defiencies of this swing if left leg never straightens/knee never locks?

Ben Doyle: Shortens the radius. Just not "maximum."

My take from Ben's video is that he advocates Standard Knee Action (10-16-A) for Swinging. The basic stroke patern in 12-2-0 recommends Right Anchor (10-16-C). What are the advantages/disadvanteages of Standard Knee Action for a Swinger? (Most modern pro's seem to emphasise a stable right knee in the backswing).

Ben Doyle: It wouldn't be a "maximum participation pattern" without Standard Knee action.

In the "4-barrel" Swing he teaches, when does the hit start - at release, at impact, or somewhere in between?

Ben Doyle: When you lay it on the line.

Ask him if he has any plans for making another video?

Brian Manzella: We are going to revamp his web site and presence AND do some Ben Doyle video shorts for it.

In his opinion, can you have a four-barrel Swinging stroke? If so, how?

Ben Doyle: Yes. First paragraph of 2-M-3

Can "sit and tilt" produce an under-plane motion?

Ben Doyle: If you do it incorrectly.

Do you teach swinging exclusively for full shots because it is difficult to be more successful and stronger than centrifugal force?

Ben Doyle: You can do either.

When are you updating your webpage?

Brian Manzella: See above post.

Any changes to your mat?

Ben Doyle: I will keep improving it.

1. What is the best drill to learn Clubshaft control?
2. What is the best drill to learn Clubhead control?
3. What is the best drill to learn Clubface control?

Is the four barrel swing classified as a swinger stroke or a hitter stroke?
Ben Doyle: It can be either.

Is it beneficial to remove accumulator 3 in any way and if so how can it be done?
Ben Doyle: Raising your hands at address and (or) gripping it more in the cup of the left hand.

How does one keep the right hip and the right elbow from interrupting each other if the pivot is a primary power source?

When putting, which of the accumulators is used during a "torso only" stroke?

What sequence should the accumulators be loaded in the backswing to produce the best forward swing?

At what point do you no longer apply force to the club on the backswing?

Should there be a pause at the top of the backswing?

How precisely must the hips move to facilitate the balance?

How do you determine the correct ball placement?

Why do so many tour professionals negate an impact fix?

Is it better for a hitter to start with mid body hands or impact address hands?

How does shaft flex effect a person's stroke?
How does swing weight effect a person stroke?

How do the different right elbow locations in 10-3 effect the trajectory of the ball?

I've heard from a tour player who knew Moe Norman for years and who also had studied with Mac O'Grady, that Mac O'Grady was as good and longer.

There seems to be some antiMac sentiment here, and perhaps from Ben as well. Can he give an honest appraisal on the subject of Mac's ball striking and how he ranks him if he had indeed seen Hogan, Moe Norman, Byron Nelson, etc?

Ben Doyle: Mac was definitely in their league.

Swing differently (more or less) between a practicing swing without impact and a real shot. Thanks for the attention.

How old is he?
Ben Doyle: Born the same year as Titleist.

Tell us a little story about Homer.

How many lessons has he gave?

What are Brian's best and worst attributes?
Ben Doyle: He is very passionate. ;)

And TEll him thanks from all of us!!
Ben Doyle: You're welcome.

What is the best drill to maintain the flying wedges to follow thru let him know this is from Big John

What is his #1 way to monitor the on-plane motion?
What is his #1 feel of lag for a swinger?
What is his #1 maintaining the flying wegdes through impact feel?

What separates a tour winner from other players? What is necessary to make someone a good PLAYER? What kind of research would bring most improvement for teaching golf?
