hi all! beautiful forum with alot of great info!
my background info:
because of a bad accident few years back, had to have major reconstructive surgery on my right wrist. after a few years of occupational therapy, i have no major problems with the right wrist anymore but i have lost a major amount of range of motion. specifically, i can't hinge my wrist back more than 20-25 degrees so i can't do the classic holding a tray move for the backswing like brian shows in the correct hinging of the wrists for stopping the slice.
i just started hitting again and the backswing feels terribly awkward since i still am trying to get a good set like i used to in the backswing. i did find out that 20-25 degrees tho is great for impact since it is almost a cheat to hinge my right wrist as much as it will go as i'm going into impact lol.
is there any compensations i should make in the backswing other than making half swings and relying on my bad wrist to get decent compression on the ball?
any advice is appreciated. TIA!
