Hi, I am hitting very high ballooning push slices and my mishits on my irons are fat, and i have a feeling these two problems could be related. I have a decently fast swing, around 105-110mph. I have ultralight stiff vapor graphite shafts in my nicklaus n1 pro irons and my buddies comment on how much the shaft bends in my downswing transition and say i should upgrade to steel. However, I would like to figure out if its my swing, and not shell out for something that wont fix the problem. My driver is a regular flex 55gram 11degree 2007 big bertha 460. Are my shafts too soft or light for me? Will stiffer/heavier shafts help me close the face better?
Swing-wise i have noticed my downswing gets steeper than my backswing so i am really working on trying to get flatter and hit from the inside-out. I've also started incorporating a lagging takeaway and i feel the whip action a lot more and when i do make solid contact the ball takes off effortlessly. My primary thoughts are to lag the sweetspot, keep pressure on my right index trigger finger, and to keep my right elbow from flying out to not come over the top. Any swing tips/drill and any comments on my equipment would be very much appreciated. Thank you in advance.
