Bent left arm (not Vardon deliberate though)

Dear friends,

Please hear me out and give me some ideas before I lose my sanity.

I can post a video but I am most embarrassed at present

I reach the top of my backswing with the shoulder turn and arms in sync however in transition once my lower body starts my left arm seems to have developed what feels like a twitch or impulse to bend and act like a lever. The bend can reach as much as 90 degrees :( and then straighten out by impact.

Just to reiterate the left arm does not bend during the backswing, this bizzare occurance only manifests itself when I start the downswing.

I have tried numerous actions to combat this such as extensor action, keeping the right arm straight for more width, keeping elbows squeezed together, pausing at the top to name a few but none of these totally eradicates the bend. The straighter I keep the left arm the more wooden and powerless the swing feels. It gets worse under competitive play and causes all sorts of shots when I loose the radius and get to narrow.

Driver SS usually in the 110-115 region. Any ideas are or advice is greatly received.

Regards
David

Hi Lama,
You describe an interesting swing element. I don't recall ever hearing of a player struggling with this issue.

Just curious: If , at address, you put your left arm in the attitude it apparently likes, and left it alone to the forces of your swing, would anything change in your transition?

Hi Jonwill,

I see what your implying but no this has no bearing or effect.

I would think if you focused on your hand path from the top you would not fold that lead arm. See the pull back, run up and jump video maybe?
