Best round ever! (**warning-worthless post**)

Well, shot the best round (9 holes) of my life today. Not a super hard course but it's not easy either. Shot a 39. Drives were nice and long, striking the mid irons well, and my short game was on. I can definitely get better and pretty soon 39's will be more common and then hopefully will be a so-so round. I EASILY could have taken 3 shots off but I'll get them next time. I've been using SD lately but the hooks were putting me in bad situations off the tee. So I used a "hybrid swing" were I took a little from SD and a little from NHA. Instead of aiming right I aimed almost straight, maybe even a little left. Opened my stance and made sure I wasn't laid off at the top. The ball still drawed for me and the hooks went away. Distance was a lot better as well at around 260. Which isn't bad considering I haven't worked out in about a year and have no muscle. Well anyway, this is kind of a worthless post but I'm just happy. Looking forward to more good videos and more good advice from everybody. Thanks to Brian and everybody else (well almost everybody). Peace out

Nice job. I remember the 1st time I broke 40 for 9......great feeling. Make sure not to put too much pressure on yourself from here on though....that can set you back.

Good luck going forward.

Congrats dude :)

Not to hijack your thread but it must have been the day for "milestones" as I hit 48 for 9 today.
Having been sitting on mid to high 50's for over a year but steadily coming down since NSA and SD I'm happy with that.

Thanks Brian and the good folks who care to share around here.

Well done mate, keep up the good work, not to hijack but I had the ultimate horror/heaven on Sunday.

10 over front nine (45)

4 under back nine (32)

13 shot swing.

Stupid game

Congats....happy for you Curtis. I'll also throw out that my "hybrid" NHA takeaway/NSA swing under the stick wedding ring up finish swivel has given me my first ace ever earlier this year (bonus was it was during a tournament). I also had a record 4 birdies in my round today focusing primarily on mid-body hands and a "do it right" right forearm in line with the shaft at setup.

Oh, I almost forgot...tracing a straight line with the hosel of my putter (something I picked up from Brian's putting thread) helped me make all those birdies! JRJ

Thanks everyone. Shot a 40 today but I think I actually played better. Had 3 3 putts that should have went in for pars. Nothing worse than having a GIR and then 3 putting. Golf is starting to get more fun every week. Thanks again!

Congrats to Curtis and to Slicey on their milestones. I, too, remember breaking 40 for the first time, and it's one of the best goals to achieve.

To Welshdentist: nice 32 mate!

And since we're sharing goals achieved thanks to Brian and this site: a few weeks back I had a 70 in a competition.

That's the first time in my life I've shot even par in a tournament, and it's my lowest competitive round. But we always leave shots on the course, don't we: I shot 33 on the first nine (2 under), and then had 19 (!!) putts on the back nine (hit 8 greens) for a 2 over 37.

Thats almost as good as my personal best 2 under 33. ;) and, that was along with my best round 76... damn 43 front nine... that brings up another topic, since this is a usless thread hehe, anyone else, play a much better back nine than front? I can have a horrid front nine, but it almost makes me play a better back nine, because i wont alow myself to shot over 85, or ill disown myself, haha.

36-51 in the 1st round of my last tourney. I was completely taken aback. 3 triples, 3 doubles, 3 pars and the 3 pars were the first 3 holes on the back side, basically I was even through 12. Hit one OB on thirteen. Was fired up on a drivable par 4 with OB behind the green on 14, determined to make birdie - 286 yards and I pipe it OB behind the green....dumbfounded. I never recovered...I was in utter shock and disbelief. I tried to fire myself up and not get down and stay in the moment and all that jazz, but I was too dumbstruck to accomplish anything...then I started trying too hard and it was really over.

A four putt double on the next hole sealed my day.

The funny thing is people thought I sand-bagged to get in a lower flight. People that know me understand that I would rather be DAL in the championship flight than win the 2nd flight, that is just how I am. In short....not a good weekend.
