Betting game suggestions

Got a trip coming up in a couple weeks. There will be 4 of us, and the courses are links. All pretty much the same level, so no stroke will be given or received. Anyone have some fun suggestions for games that might be unique to your group/area?

Daytona is always action packed.

But,

My favorite is match play 4 ball (best ball) with caveats. The caveats (dots) are: both partners birdie same hole, 3 birdies in a row by 1 member of team, and any five hole stretch of par or better by any player - for every stroke below par you add an additional dot.

We usually play for $20 a hole and the caveats which a represented in dots are worth $10. If you guys are truly evenly matched, no one can lose more than $50-$70

A fun game my step-dad and his group used to play - regular Nassau bet for however many units and presses as agreed upon. In addition, each hole paid one unit for birdie, one unit for closest to the hole in regulation and one unit for low total score per team. If all three "extra" units were won, they were doubled. Usually kept the matches very spirited and each player grinding on each hole - especially if the extra unit number was weighted up a little.

I'm not familiar with Daytona, at least not under that name... how's that work?

I like those dots. We usually do close-up every hole, approach inside pole, putts made outside pole, and all birdies.

Occasionally, we do something very similar to that... good game.

A group I play in does something similar.. birdies are double points, greenies/closest to pin on Par 3s is a point, sand saves gets an extra point (whether or not a resulting skin). Then there's my other group.. in addition... barkies (hit a tree.. $1 to everyone else, for each 'contact', no matter how many times/branches), bunker (again $1 each), cart path (another $1 each).. water (yep, $1).. trust me, it can add up.

Daytona for us is a 4 ball and every player's score counts. Play for .25 or up to a dollar per stroke or whatever you want.

If the one team goes 4 and 5 on a hole they score 45. If the other team goes 5 and 5 they have 55 and lost by 10.

If a player makes the lone birdie, it flipps the number, so let's say my team went 4-5 and your team went 5-6 on a par 5. We have 45 and now you have 65, so instead of just losing 11 you lose 20. The game is about making pars and birdies because the same numbers flipped are the same numbers.

Mike,

One game we do every once in a while is 6, 6, 6! Every 6 holes switch partners. You play a skins game with carry overs, however carry overs only exist as long as the teams are the same. New team new bet!

Go old school and play a match with each of the 3 other players. Add skins, Hogans (hit fwy and green), and stickies (putts over length of flag stick length), and everyone is into it till the end.
