blank canvas for wedges

If you had a blank canvas which pattern would you build for your wedge play? So, in your eyes which pattern is best for wedge play? NHA, SD, NSA or a mixed pattern?

I think that different techniques might breed wedge players that were optimal for different turf conditions. The best wedge player in the Pacific Northwest may pitch it differently than the best wedge player in Texas.

Good question; I'm interested to hear some opinions.

I wonder about NHA - specifically how the backswing should work for a half-swing given that it doesn't 'complete' till near the top. I have no gotten to grips with the NHA backswing in the full swing either though.

NSA gives me the hooks. Imagine it would be hard to create a high trajectory?

I have recently found in my own work on pitching that SD ideas were best for getting good trajectory, and to ensure solid ball first contact. I think keeping clubhead outside hands helps.

I would think that if you want to use one of Brian's patterns it needs to be less exaggerated, or closer to orthodox, due to the shorter swing giving you less room for manoeuvre.

I was thinking something along the lines of SD backswing, but less in & up, with a slight NHA downswing.

Kevin, I didn't think you could put FATS and still get to a gather up the marbles position. Is this something of a controlled flip to get at the bounce on the club?

FATS will keep the face square to the path longer and allow the right wrist to straighten to use the bounce

Not sure what this is but I would think not

"NSA-pitch" as in - the principles of NSA applied to pitching. (i.e. does 'tight/close hands, marbles finish' refer to a single type of pitch derived from NSA, or to all pitching?)

I think this is what the thread-starter is looking for: basically, which pattern is best applied to pitching? Can they all be?

NSA does not have a "marbles" finish nor close hands
