blocks /pushes...new flight fault...

Things are progressing well as of late. However, I am fighting some nasty blocks/pushes. This has become my number 1 errant flight. Sometimes, they are 10* off, others they are 30*. Never struggled with these before so based on other improvements, I guess these are a good thing. I have fought hooking the ball pretty well. Slices have become almost non-existent. The only slice I get is when I really go after the driver and I'm tired or had too many beers on the course. The slices are virtually gone!

It just doesn't seem like I am swing from that far inside!!!

I have tried just aiming more left but....when I hit a good shot (50/50), then I am too far left.

Would appreciate a list of some things to consider. Thanks!

check your grip especially the right hand make sure the line between the right thumb and forefingeris pointing more towrds your right shoulder then your chin the right hand grip is extremely important more than the left in my opinion. I just worked out this same issue with a friend yesterday 2 min and he was hitting it right on target again
The best check i have seen for your grip is from martin hall put your left hand grip on and put a tee between your thumb and forefinger pointing up now rotate your grip till the tee is pointing 45 degrees to the right than put your right hand on with the tee between the right forefinger and thumb and tun your grip till it is pointed 20 degrees to the right. These are starting points mac reccomends you can adjust to suit yourself accordingly from there

back to basics

30yrlayoff, I had the same problem as you. I am no expert by any means so this is my 2cents and what has helped me. I too was hitting low hooks and pushes. What I found out was that I was not watching the club head hit the ball. I was letting my head move toward the target in the downswing causing me to smother the ball(low hooks) and when I really felt like I held off the club head from closing I would get a push. So I went back to the basics. Watch the club hit the ball. I also have very fast hips of I started slicing it again. I now think dead still head and watch the club hit the ball with no hip movement. My hips still move the right amount I just have to think no hip movement to get them too act right. I know exactly how frustrated you are but just making sure I watched the club hit the ball I am back dead center of the fairway.

I guess I should add.....

I am spankin' the driver. Hitting it well and within an acceptable margin of error. Flirting with the 300yard range....lots of 270-290 drives of late (used to be a 250 hitter) and a couple of 300 over last couple rounds.

Most of my blocks/pushes are coming from irons and fw woods. Wedges are actually pulling left. 9iron up to fw wood is where I am getting the shots going straight right.

I was pulling the short irons and hooking or pushing the longer iron and woods. All I am saying is it is worth a check. Where does your divots point and your ball flight(low, high)?

On the pulls (wedges) and Pushes (other irons and fw woods)

The ball flight is what I consider perfect (other than...pull or push). They are usually good trajectory and loooong. The divots seem to be ok. They are usually pointing in the direction of the target line.

I have really been focusing on alignment to make sure that is not the culprit. Also, ball location does not seem to be an issue.

I think it is in my grip, body movement, or wrists being too stiff. Another thing I am starting to question is am I quitting on the ball after impact. Going to take a real hard look at these things this week. Will consider what you said as well.

Can you try that explaination again??

Not sure "to the right" of what?? Especially the 20* one. Are you speaking of the top of the shaft?

yes to the right of the top of the grip so if the top is 0 degrees than you want the right tee to point to 45 from straight up and the left to point to 20 degrees

i mistyped in the post above it is left hand 45 right hand 20 degrees so in conventional teaching your lef hand will be a little strong and your right hand about nuetral
