Bought the Tour Striker ... It confirms that I'm not very good. Few questions.

About me:

My miss is a hook.
Broke 90 once. 95 is where I typically shot last summer.
Ballflight with longer clubs is low.
Never Slice Again cured my slice at the beginning of last summer.

Problems:

I can't get any zip on the ball. I've watched NHA2, and while I can get the ball to go straight at times, it doesn't go very far.
I practice with a blade iron occasionally. 1 out of 5 times I hit the sweet spot.
I hit a decent shot with the tour striker 1 out of 5 times. TS misses go low and right.

Questions: I think I am smothering the ball w/ my swing at times. The ball will fly straight; but I'm looking for more zip and distance. Is there something I sould be doing with my wrists? How do I build lag pressure?

How can I hit the ball w/ the sweet spot repeatedly?

Are there specific drills that I should be working on w/ the TS?

Thanks for reading. Any and all help is appreciated. I just want to be consistent (ly decent) and have fun out there.

Do you make deep divots or do you have trouble making them, especially with longer clubs? Can you hit a driver off the ground?

Bonesy, I'd suggest that you email Martin Chuck directly and ask him your specific questions regarding the Tour Striker. He's great about staying in touch with people who have bought his product, and he posts answers on his blog.

thanks Holeout. Yes, I'd say dropkicking is a problem w/ fairway woods. I'll watch NHA and work on a more neutral swing plane.

Vandal, I emailed Martin. Thanks.

It seems like maybe you're swinging too far to the right, maybe with a flip. How do you hit your 3 wood generally? Lots of drop kicks?

Why did you target the 3 wood holeout? Just wondering because I had the hooks last summer and my 3 wood was the WORST. As a result, I maybe hit it 5 times. ALL were nasty hooks. Thanks

Curtis

(sorry for the threadjack)

Getting underplane or swinging too far to the right puts low point farther back and can make hitting longer clubs difficult. You can get away with it with the driver since it's tee'd up, but the 3 wood can be a nightmare.

THANKS! Yes, 3W = nightmare. Long irons sucked too. Hardly ever hit anything under a 6 iron. Now thanks to NHA2.0 I'm supper excited to get out and play. I'm expecting a "break out" year for me. Thanks again

Bonesy, sorry I missed this!

Hi Bonesy,

Sorry I missed your questions!

Please try the following and report back via PM.

Play the ball inside your left heel (probably more forward than you are accustomed too) and try and get the leading edge of the TS to feel like it can scrape the ground at impact. You can't do it, but it's a feel that will promote lag, axis tilt and pivot. Since the TS has that huge flange, you can't lay the sod over the ball. Once you get 4 out of 5, go to your seven or eight iron.

Thanks,

Martin
