I was at the LPGA event today (the Sybase in New Jersey) and followed 18-year old Vicky Hurst for 18 holes. What a swing!!! Hits it LONG and is an excellent ballstriker. This is the only clip I could find, which doesn't show how she starts her swing with a slight move away from the target, then mashes it. Not the best scoring round: lost a couple to the right in the water, and missed a couple of real short putts: I recommended the Sheriff to her surrogate dad who I met there (her real dad died in 2006). She could be really good!

Looks to me like she has the "D Plane" figured out - look how far left she is setting up to where the ball starts (the red target)

I'd be surprised if more than a dozen Tour pros in the LPGA and PGA combined understand what D-Plane is. No doubt it's a powerful and advantageous subject to understand, but she's hitting a short iron here and opening up your stance on a short iron is pretty common for good players. I realized a lot time ago that if I play with a squared stance with a short iron, I'll be fighting a hook all day with those clubs...and back then I didn't know D-Plane from Heavy D and the Boyz.

True 3 Jack - they may not know about it but their sub conscious has made the appropriate adjustments based upon experience.

This links to Vicky's page on the Callaway site, where there is a video with several face-on swings with the driver. She's currently second in driving distance at 273 yards.

Perfect turned shoulder to elbow plane? Perfection in other areas also!:)

Is she old enough to comment on other attributes that'll help that tour.:D

Barely, but that's neither here nor there.

I hope she blows up. I don't really care about the tour, but it would be great if she started getting some face time.

I like that she hits it. Most of them just dink it around. There is nothing exciting about 5-woods from 180.

A nice slow-motion video of my favorite swing:
