Great video as always. these should be collected and shown all at once. The best instructional pieces anywhere online. Dufner keeps his right elbow ahead of his hip line through out the backswing, seemingly making it really easy for him to follow the yellow brick road. What pitfalls if any are there in working on keeping the right elbow down and in front of the trail hip in the backswing? I played with a former college golfer that did the same thing and he could really hit it long for a smaller player. Is this something to work on or not for a player that swings way too much in to out ? Dufner has a great swing, really fun to watch someone with a compact swing hit the ball so well.

Dufner still has a little LCT in there. When he waggles it looks like a quick wrist set and then his real swing has some LCT. Odd.

The basic differences between what Chuck Cook teaches and what Ben Doyle teaches is:

1. Handle left (as Duf said).

2. Radar tweaking.

The drill Duff illustrates in this clip is really excellent. It has helped me to feel what "swinging across your left leg" is all about. I hit some Dufner like wedges yesterday that were kick-ins.

Awesome! When i first started playing i hit it best feeling like my right elbow and shoulder never "expanded" or got behind / above me. Later-on pulling the handle and trying to "put it in my left pocket" helped get my path more left. Lately I've been really trying to pull less and let the momentum go (shooting the marbles) with a much higher backswing (I got too in-out and this seems to work up until about the 6 iron). Still feel though that my most solid swings (especially with long irons!!!) was taking that handle left like Dufner.

How does one tumble enough and also pull left to get enough DOWN to take a divot? I struggle every time I try to pull the handle left with either coming in too shallow or I get stuck and flip the club face closed. This fight against a too much in-out path is driving me nuts!

I can't imagine you mean more in-out... since I am in-out too much. I am guessing more you mean keeping the club in front of me and more up the wall (been working on this). The driver, 3w, and long irons still love to get underplane and snap hook.

Are you referring as well though to your revised fiddle / split hand drill? That's what good short and mid iron swings feel like for me lately... like i'm tossing the club into the ground and letting the club lineup. Haven't gotten it with the longer clubs though.
