Anyone play this ball? Just picked up a dozen at Target. I thought I would try out a Bridgestone and this one looked like it's better for the average amateur (so they say).

Yes great ball!

I say it's the PROV for everyone else.

Matt

That's what I was thinking. If I don't have the swing speed to take advantage of a ball like a prov1, why the hell play it? I've never had a problem with the prov1, but maybe this will work even better.

Since I've been working on my swing more and getting better, I'm wondering about the Pro V1. I have been playing the Taylor Made black and I really don't like the feel around the greens, so I bought a dozen prov1 and have been chipping and putting them and really like the feel. So my question is what, is the swing speed to best utilize the prov1's distance?

I played it all last year, really good ball for guys that swing <105. I switched to the Penta this year and so far it's been better then the RX. I have not tired the RXS yet though, hopefully next week.

Good rule is: The better player you are, the more expensive ball you should play. The higher handicap guys should play the cheapies.

My experience is close to 110 to get the best effect - otherwise use the Pro V

every good player i know decides on the ball they play from the green backwards. once i did that as well i picked up 2 shots a round. now it might take some time to find a ball that you really like around the greens that doesn't fly too short with the driver but once you do your game will get better.

i haven't played golf in quite some time (don't ask) but when i was playing my ball of choice was a callaway tour i. It was exceptionally low spin off the driver for a "spinny" ball around the green. I gave up about 10 yards to the tour ix off the tee but the greenside spin was worth it.

EDIT

Just looked up and sure enough callaway changed their balls again, the equivalent to the tour i is now the tour i(s) and the tour ix is the tour i(z)

I'm actually in the process of finding a new ball. I been playing Precept U-Tri Tour balls - best balls I've ever hit (but they were discontinued a couple years ago -I wiped 10 area Wal-marts out:D) and have tried the RX, Wilson FG tour, and TM Penta. The RX & Wilson balls are very good, but the Penta is the bomb! Goes off the tee, but really holds the greens, and feels good on pitches, chips & putts. I think the Wilson FG tour and RX are neck & neck - difference is, the Wilson is about 10.00 cheaper per dozen. Now my swing speed is 90 -95, so take my opinion for what it's worth - probably not much!
