Know much about Bruce Crampton, have just see a swing sequence of him and it looks impressive.

Depends on when the sequence was shot. When he played the senior tour, he very much followed the theories of Hank Haney. I saw him play in the early 90's and he worked a lot on flattening his plane. In his prime, he swung more steeply and could get quite short on the backswing. This may have cost him some majors, he finished second to Nicklaus more than a few times in the 70's. He was a great putter.

His sequence looks pretty good though. I actually thought it looked really smooth. Just like Middlecoff and all those pros from the 50's - 60's

Golf World...

...did a small segment about him in a recent issue. He says he hasn't played a round of golf in 8 years. He's 72 and in great shape.

"Bruce It"

Crampton had great tempo in his swing. One of my favorite mental images was to try to envision that swing and "Bruce It" when playing in windy conditions. It helped slow things down, probably a good idea with or without wind.

About 25 years ago (man I'm getting on...) I watched him play a round at Glen Abbey during the Canadian Open. Played with Nicklaus. They were both amazing. Nicklaus was very powerful and Crampton was very controlled.

I probably played close to a dozen or so rounds with Bruce C during my 6 years playing the Champions (Senior - back then) Tour.

He was a very precise player who worked incessently on his swing and was very much into a shallow forward swing (Jim Hardy).

While many thought him of aloof and crabby, he had a very wry sense of humor once you got to know him.
