When hitting a bunker shot (green side) you set your hands quickly and then do you use your hands or do you hit the ball with your pivot or both together? Also how much bounce is enough with a wedge(the leading edge) 10 degree 12 or what??...joe
Not to sound like an advertisement but Brian is probably the best bunker player i've ever seen. When he went to Ben (the first time) it's the only thing Ben didn't change 1 lick!
I would suggest you take a look at purchasing Brian's "Over and Out" video which covers both bunker and green side play.
it will greatly clear up the different ways you hit a bunker shot.

As for your question: you can set your hands as early or as late as you want. The main thing that makes great bunker players is a lag pressure point and getting your hands ahead of the ball (yes even in a bunker). Bounce is doing to be determined by the type of sand you play in.
More firm/tight sand you want LESS bounce and a SHARPER leading edge.
More fluffy/loose sand you want MORE bounce and a ROUNDED leading edge.
I bought that video and others, only seen it once but I dont remember if the hip is used or just the hands, I`ll see the tape again and see if he says it..thanks
