today I was playing, not really keeping score. On the ninth I hit about 8 drives. The first two I hit like normal, 255-260 and barely mmissing the fairway. Then for some resaon I strenthened my grip and hit around six more balls. two were terrible but the other four were all 20+ yards past my first two and the two longest were around 285 with the longest being around 300.

I play with a weak left hand at address, not impact fix. at address my left hand points right at my chin and my right hand too.

after the ninth i played 4 more holes, on this 9 hole course. in those holes I hit past were I hit it earlier, Even bad slices were 15+ yards longer.

you guys understand the physics of the swing better then I do, so if you could answer a few questions.

I will not ask you to say whether or not it is possible, I know it is because I did it, and b.s.ing you guys on a forum will not help me play better golf. Is there an explanation for this? I was thinking that it might be possible that because i had a weak grip then maybe I had to release the hands much earlier and therefore not allowing the release to be delayed, would this make sense? would such a weak grip actually overeducate the hands, basically meaning would it get them too envolved? and where should you take your grip from?

thanks,
neil

Basically....less leakage and more mass which means more umph.

Or in english...your smash factor went up (swing speed x smash factor = ball speed => distance)

The weak left hand grip you first used probably accentuated the bending of your left wrist through impact, with resultant throw away.

Strengthening your left hand grip probably helped you make the karate chop motion through your approach with the better shots resulting from a flat (flatter) left wrist plus horizontal hinging. The weaker shots could have been the product of the karate chop approach but with angled hinging, or something less than the full roll of HH.
