I've read both of the perfect pivot articles. As I detailed in another post, I've made some changes to my swing and some of the main changes involve the way I pivot. Whereas before I over-shifted to the right foot, I now think I'm hanging too much on the left leg.

Can someone explain counterfall to me more and how that relates to the backswing pivot. Thanks in advance!

I think Brian describes it as the automatic fall back on the left leg after the initial weight was taken off that foot in the backswing. Automatic because if you can balance yourself on the right leg at the top of your swing you've shifted too much.

I think part of the problem for me is that I do a lot of "mirror work" and am used to posing my top of the backswing position.

A counter fall as I understand it would be if you are at the top of the backswing and then lift your left foot, it will cause you to fall to the left and rear-ward. When you swing your body automatically counter falls to compensate for the weight of the club and arms swinging in front of your body. If you did not counter act the arms and club motion, you would be pulled forward.

Sorry, didn't see the Manzella only.

That's it.

Also, I think I have some damn uneducated hands because whenever I try to make my pivot more dynamic, I get sloppy. Along with the uneducated hands, I down have a good backswing pivot or on plane shoulders on the downswing!

What are you doing to make your pivot more dynamic?

Good sirs, after studying the video Brian posted of Arnie a while ago, I've finally gotten it. I needed to steepen the shoulders and hips, straighten the leg, get the hands moving more inside, and basically, just feel like my body was so coiled up, I had no where else to go but back left. Like Brian said in Episode 5, which I've also been studying, I wasn't thinking about shifting weight, but shifting pressure!

All is well for me now. Thanks!
