Casio FC-100 Question

I know we have talked a lot about cameras, but I want one of these to film my swing. It advertises HD movie capability and slow motion.

What do you film a swing in? Picture mode and slow it down? MOvie mode and slow it down? Does it matter?

When I load it into windows media player, am I able to slow it down at the same speed it was on the camera?

Thanks

You can shoot in regular or HD video and slow it down, or shoot in high-speed video (210 fps).

The Casio EX-FC100 is available on Amazon.com for $230. Shoot your swing in slow motion at 210fps and view it on V1 line drawing software. Don't use Windows Media Player. The V1 software is available for free at their site.

I have V1, but is that a format that I can send to Brian?

Is it true that using the V1 software you can only capture images at 300 fps on the casio or the image window gets to small and it doesn't work

I have the Casio FC-100. It allows you to record in HD or standard, but on these settings you do not get good slow motion. You can change the setting to 210 fps or even higher at 420 fps and 1000 fps (the latter being a very small image and not very useful). If you record on the 210 fps or higher, it is in slow motion without sound. You can play it back on your PC with Windows Media player and it's easy to see as it's in slow motion. You can also view in V1 or some other golf swing editor of course.

Thanks for the help boys, I got one and used it on my 7yr old's football game this weekend. It is awesome and I will be posting the swing up soon.

Can you and TeddyIrons (who both have the EXFC-100) tell me how it is as a normal camera? I was thinking of getting my wife a new camera for her birthday, and I know I would love the Casio for golf purposes, but it has to be a decent camera for normal photos as well or I don't think I'll get away with this!

I haven't used it enough to see whether it's OK as a normal camera. It seems pretty good to me for what I've used it for so far - golf swings and standard photos. There are lots of scene options that you can get to very quickly using the BS button (e.g. night shot, country scenery, sport, etc). It's also quite easy to edit your movies once you get the hang of it, on the camera. One thing that has bewildered me a little is that there is a youtube setting but I can't work out where the advantage is because the movies seem the same to me. Videos in standard and high def seem quite large in terms of Megabytes. It doesn't seem to have an time delay feature for taking photos (maybe I just haven't found that option?) which can be useful. Overall I'd say it's as good as any other compact camera that I've had. It's quicker at taking photos than many others, and you have the option of taking 60 photos in 1 second (or is it 30?). Overall I like it so far and would buy it for my wife if she was looking for a decent camera with the possibility of meddling with the settings.

One word of warning - although the slow mo is very good with 220 and 420 fps, on a full swing the club head will still be a blur at impact if you freeze the playback - you need a more expensive camera to see that. For a chip shot the blur is not noticeable.

Guys, the EX-FC100 is only $230. That is a bargain for all its capabilities. Plus the compact size makes it perfect for your golf bag. I recently video taped my playing partners swings in slow-mo and they couldn't believe what they saw. Most amateurs assume that their swings resemble that of Ernie Els. Show it to them and they will gasp.

I have tried this, and tried to upload slow motion to You Tube, but cannot get You Tube to play in slow motion. I feel dumb.
