Clarke Omission a Shocker - August 31, 2008

I agree with Hewitt. Clarke, to me, is the epitome of what a Captains pick should be. He is red hot going in, he has a ton of experience there, and he formed one of the most successful duos in Ryder Cup history with Lee Westwood. I cannot believe a guy with 2 top tens all year (Poulter) gets chosen over a guy with two wins.

If my life depended on it, I'd take the guy who actually stared into the eye of the Tiger and beat him versus the guy who talks about it. But that's just me.

Sorry but this one just irks me. :)

I don't think Faldo is that fond of Clarke. Clarke is one of those guys who is very popular with the players, but I could see where a captain (or someone in charge) would have a problem with him.

He would have been my pick as well. Plus the guy is only 38, they talk as if he is an old man.

You are not the only one it irks. I think its a disgrace he has not been picked. DC could have done no more and was overlooked for a man who hasnt shot lower than 67 since January!

I think Poulter knew he was a pick and that is why he didnt travel back to Scotland. If that is the case then it is seriously wrong.

Clarke imo should definately have been picked instead of Casey. I mean at least Poulter finnished 2nd at the Open what the hell has Casey done this year.

However just seeing Azingers picked they are just as bad if not worse. Chad Campbell what is he thinking about.

Thx Eric.

From the 2nd article regarding Poulter.

"A player who has had one round under 68 all year with no victories."

That just floored me. Wow!

World Rankings as of 31 August 2008:

Poulter 25

Clarke 61

'Nuff said!

I kind of agree other than that Clake has gone from in the 250's to 61 in a very short space of time...

All this talk of form etc etc I'd have to agree with the point...

I'd rather play Ian Poulter if I was a Yank
