Clone vs. Brand Name clubs

Not all of the component companies are "clone factories". Make sure you deal with a reputable outfit. I use both OEM and component stuff. My personal favorites for components are www.wishongolf.com,www.golfsmith.com,www.golfworks.com, and www.smtgolf.com.
All of these places do their own design work and testing. Good products at low prices. And I agree that clubfitting with an appropriate shaft are VERY important. Hope this helps. Dr Dave

Henry-Griffitts are the best by far, but you need a good teacher fitter to otherwise they will fit you to a throwaway swing. Brian has been trained by HG and he agrees with the science. Let me know where you are and I can recomend a good fitter to you.

I don't like how you have to use THEIR STUFF. Just my opinion. As others have said above, "clones" are much different from a GOOD component company.
I have an AWESOME fitter i use. He fit me 95% of the way over the phone, however i do know a decent amount about my own swing and i am honest when it comes to swing speed, ball speed, tempo. So it did help, however he is a magic. www.lowprogolf.com Talk to Bryant

Never seen Miura live.
Few years back KZG used to be the brand - at least w/ late teen pro wannabees. There was only one importer who knew how to price his stuff. I mean really price it.
Advertising and word of mouth did work wonders back then with high price adding some kind of Ferrari effect. The consept worked for some time, but today KZG has lost a lot of former lustre. Sorta passeé.
Personally, I never saw anything un-earthly in KZG products. This regarding quality control or design of the club(head)s. Never had money or intrest to go wild and play w/ the priciest driver heads, so maybe this is where the magic is.
Like better products from Golfsmith, really.

I have my own shop. Since I'm a Mechanical Engineer I appreciate the work that goes into designing a club. I refuse to make "clones". I only make clubs from Golfsmith (Snake Eyes) and Wishon.
These people have the knowledge and the design experience to produce good designs. After that, it is up to the fitter to put the perfect club into your hands.
Don't ask "what is the best club?". Instead, do some research for youself. Buy, steal or borrow a copy of "The Search for The Perfect Club" by Tom Wishon. This has all the answers. As a matter of fact, if you don't read this book and you buy an O.E.M. club I can amost guarentee that it will be wrong for you and you will have waisted the 300, 400 or 500 dollars you paid for it. 99+% of the clubs from the "golf shop" will not fit you correctly.
You are smart enough to know that The Golfing Machine as taught by Brian, Yoda or Chuck has the right answer as far as your swing goes now get the right answer for your equipment.
