Club / shaft fitting - worth it?

I was considering having a fitting done for a new driver - $50, which is applied towards the purchase if I buy a new driver.

Worth it? What has been the experience for and game improvemnt for those that have been fitted?

What should I look for? I will be hitting against a screen, so I wonder if this will produce realistic feedback.

Depends on where you do it - don't do it a big box store. Do it somewhere with a better system, like Trackman or Flightscope. Somewhere where you can hit the balls you play with is preferable. The monitors in some of those big box stores are way off at times IMO.

I don't know Frans, this is pretty common tactic in the US for most places even places i know that are good fitters. Maybe it's differentover seas.

Yea.. everyone who plays golf isn't rich... paying for a fitting & the clubs can get very salty quick. I understand wanting to be paid for your expertise though. I run a welding supply company, and I constantly get guys buying welders on the internet to save some $$ and want me to help them when they have questions or issues. I usually do, because that is just my nature, but yea, my knowledge is worth a little more imo.

Its just a sweetener so you will buy whatever he has fitted you for.

Unless you know your game inside out, you need to be fitted. But you need to find someone with the equipment and knowledge to do it.

and for the time (4 hours or langer if needed) and the report and the equipment needed. Also if needed I will send you to a pro and let you come back for free. I don't fit someone into a club if I feel that a swing change will bring more benefit. Only if they return and tell me they really can not change their swing and still want a club I will advice them the best possible club i can build for them. And then they are still free to order it on the internet...

It's normall pratice overhere as well.

The biggest club fitter out here, Haggin Oaks, has the same deal. They use TrackMan and you hit from an indoor studio out to the range. You're just buying the head, technically. Most of the proprietary shafts are very inconsistent from my experience. I'm not saying an inexpensive aftermarket shaft isn't great, either. There is what they think and what *you* want the ball flight to look like. It's a good experience just to get your numbers, if nothing else.
