Greetings ...

Vijay Singh is the play-off winner of the 2005 Wachovia Golf Classic.

Incidently, the final regulation score was 12-under-276. In 2004, it was 11-under-277 - Joey Sindelar winning in a play-off. And waaay back in the 2003 inaugural event, it was 10-under-278 - thanks, of course, to David "Crazy 8" Toms.

Another congratulations is extended to D.J. Trahan, who finished in 9th place. D.J. gets a Top-10 finish, which secures a spot in the EDS-Byron Nelson Classic and gets him closer to Top 150 partial exempt status, on the way towards potential Top 125 full exempt status for 2006.

Phil Mickelson flirted with matching or breaking the current Quail Hollow course record for the Wachovia until he double-bogeyed the 17th. Lefty had 3-doubles and 1 bogey at 17 for the week. Take those 7 strokes away and he's in the play-off.

The current Quail Hollow 18-hole record for the Wachovia is Kirk Triplett's 8-under-64, shot in 2004.

The overall Quail Hollow 18-hole record is 11-under-61, fired by Jerry McGee en route to winning the 1979 Kemper Insurance Open.
